In the Philippines, the start of Christmas is signaled by many things: malls unveil their larger-than-life Christmas trees, businesses play Mariah Carey’s and Jose Mari Chan’s eternal holiday hits, and for Makati folks, the presentation of Ayala Triangle Gardens’ “Festival of Lights” show.
This year, Makati’s annual act didn’t bow down to the pandemic as the grand reveal of this year’s Festival of Lights still pushed through on Makati City’s social media page.
No public gatherings? No problem! This 2-minute immersive and interactive Facebook 360 Video presents a vivid light show with Christmas-themed animations set in a virtual landscape of Makati’s Central Business District.
Viewers can navigate around the dazzling lights show as popular Christmas carols “Jingle Bells” and “O Holy Night,” performed by Reese Lansangan, plays in the background.
There won’t be any on-site Christmas installations at Ayala Triangle Gardens this year, but the city’s local government hopes this “first-ever digital lights and sounds show” still does it for their loyal Makatizens.
Merry Christmas, Makatizens!
