TMZ confirms their breakup
Avril Lavigne and Tyga have called it quits. TMZ confirmed their breakup after three-and-a-half months of dating.
According to a source, Avril will keep the custom-made $80,000 Mavani & Co. Jewelry necklace that Tyga had gifted her earlier this year.
The couple’s first public appearance was on February 19, when they were photographed hugging after a meal at Nobu. Initially, an insider claimed they were “genuinely friends and nothing more.”
Yet, shortly after, PEOPLE confirmed Avril’s split from musician Mod Sun, less than a year after his proposal in Paris.
Avril, 38, and Tyga, 33, then traveled to Paris together, where they were spotted on various outings during Paris Fashion Week. They attended Leonardo DiCaprio’s party at Kùkù restaurant and were captured kissing outside the Mugler X Hunter Schafer party on March 6.
Despite the relationship being described as “very new” and “very casual” at the time, Avril proudly showcased her new 50-carat black and white diamond necklace with pink sapphires spelling out her first name.
In late March, an insider revealed that the “Girlfriend” singer and Tyga were “very into each other.”
The source also mentioned that they were taking their time. They’re not rushing into exclusivity and are focused on getting to know each other better. Avril appeared surprisedly at CMA Fest 2023 on June 9, performing alongside Miranda Lambert.
Fans may be wondering how their relationship might go from this point. But a source said that “Avril and Tyga are still friends.”
“They have the utmost respect for each other and are still in a good place. It was a mutual, amicable split that took place in the last couple of weeks,” they added.
