“Medyo weird siya,” Kelvin Miranda admits
From playing characters in a May-December affair, Beauty Gonzalez and Kelvin Miranda are now playing siblings in GMA-7’s new weekend series, “Walang Matigas Na Pulis Sa Matinik Na Misis.”
The series is an adaptation of Senator Bong Revilla and Lani Mercado’s movie in 1994. For the GMA-7 version, Sen. Bong still plays his character with Beauty playing his wife. Kelvin now plays Beauty’s younger brother in the show.
Beauty and Kelvin first worked together in the afternoon series “Loving Miss Bridgette.” Their team-up was a success that they were paired again in a movie which has yet to be shown in cinemas.
During its press conference on May 26, FreebieMNL asked Kelvin and Beauty about their adjustments in doing the series.
Kelvin starts with a laugh, “Noong una, si Ate Beauty…”
Beauty then screams, “Huwag!”
The room is then filled with laughter from the media.
“Being an actor, kailangan talagang mag-adjust kung ano yung ibinigay sa ‘yo na role, dapat willing ka to do it. Pero nasanay na ako, di ba, Ate Beauty?”
Admittedly, Kelvin found their new dynamics weird so he came up with a technique to break the ice.
“Kasi nasanay ako before kasi nagkaroon kami ng teleserye and nagkaroon din kami ng movie, so, kailangan kong may malaking adjustment and okay naman.
“Pagdating ko ng set, lagi ko siyang tinatawag na ate talaga para mabasag yung ice.”
Beauty chimed in with an anecdote about her first few scenes with Kelvin on their new show.
She explains, “Well, noong una, natutuwa ako kasi as an actor, we get to challenge ourselves. But sometimes, tinititigan niya ako, ‘Ay, mali na yang titig mo, ha! Mag-ate tayo dito, ha!’ ‘Tapos yung mga kasama namin, ‘Kelvin, mag-ate kayo.’”
But then, Beauty is thankful that GMA-7 allows her to deep dive into different characters since she transferred to the Kapuso network in 2021.
“I’m happy with GMA. Thank you kasi ngayon ko lang na-experience in my career that I get to explore every genre.
“From May-December affair to super drama to action; I have a show coming soon, kontrabida naman ako doon and it’s gonna be fun because all out ako doon. Of course, with this show, thank you, Senator Bong, I’m very happy and I get to show my funny side.
“But Kelvin, natatawa ako minsan sa mga titig natin!”
Aside from “Walang Matigas Na Pulis Sa Matinik Na Misis,” Beauty is also doing the upcoming afternoon show “Stolen Life” with Carla Abellana and Gabby Concepcion, where she plays a kontrabida.

Kelvin, on the other hand, is one of the leads of ANIMA Studios’ original movie, “Missed Connections.”
Kelvin Miranda with Kate Valdez
On the other hand, Kelvin’s partner in the series is his Sparkle co-artist Kate Valdez. They were first paired in the recently concluded afternoon series “Unica Hija.”
Both of them are happy to be paired again with a lighter project this time.
“So, dito, masaya ako dahil light and kilig kilig lang. So, ayun, pahinga muna ako sa kakaiyak ko and I’m happy to work with him again.”
Alam na namin yung dynamics, yung forumula, paano magwo-work yung scene, so, mas masaya.”
Also part of the cast are Max Collins, Carmi Martin, Bembol Roco, Jeric Raval, Raphael Landicho, Nino Muhlach, and Nikki Co, among others. The show airs every Sunday evening on GMA-7.
