EXCLUSIVE: Bianca Gonzalez Explains Why All-Star Season Of “Pinoy Big Brother” Might Not Happen Soon

Is “Pinoy Big Brother” coming back to TV soon?

“Pinoy Big Brother,” dubbed the longest-running reality program in the Philippines, might be returning on air in 2024.

This is based on what host Bianca Gonzalez has heard from the grapevine, which she shared in a one-on-one interview with FreebieMNL during Globe’s Hear For It podcast event on October 20, 2023 at Glorietta Activity Center.

Smiling, Bianca says, “Hopefully, next year. That’s what I have heard and I hope that this is safe to say, Direk Lauren! I think it’s safe to say that it’s possibly next year, probably next year.

Mahaba naman ang next year, so, hindi naman siguro ako papagalitan.”

Direk Lauren is Lauren Dyogi, the head of ABS-CBN’s TV Production and Star Magic.

Bianca is looking forward to the upcoming season primarily because restrictions have been eased out compared to the last two seasons they had.

She narrates, “We had two seasons in the pandemic, it’s so different. We were shooting from home, and all our spiels, self-shot ise-send, evictions didn’t have an audience.

“We were technically platform-less because that was just the time that the franchise was denied. So, I think we were on Kapamilya Online Live and Kapamilya Channel. But now, with all the streaming collaborations of ABS, the possibilities are so exciting of where and how ‘PBB’ will come back.

“So, I think that’s what I’m most excited about, paano namin gagawin lalo na now that everything is in person again, the housemates don’t have many restrictions again. Dati kasi, grabe the protocols, swab tests, lahat.

“Now we can be free to do what we did before the pandemic.”

PBB: All-Star Season?

On social media, “Pinoy Big Brother” and ABS-CBN fans have brought up the idea of doing an all-star edition for the reality show, bringing back some iconic housemates who really made a mark during their inside the famous yellow house.

Bianca echoes the same wish: “It’s my dream also to do an All-Star.”

However, there is apparently a reason why in the 18 years of “Pinoy Big Brother,” this request has not been made so far.

Bianca, who was also once a housemate before a host of the show, explains, “Direk Lauren answered this I think, two seasons ago.

Sabi niya, when you say kasi All-Star, it’s like it’s ending na. It sort of gives that feeling di ba, parang, patapos na ba to? Kasi All-star.

“So, I’m honestly looking forward to All-Star like, in my head, ‘Okay ito sa All-Star,’ yung mga housemates na you like from past seasons.

“But I’m happy to know na ayaw pa nilang gawin kasi ibig sabihin they have other plans pa.”

Bianca also shares who she has in mind to become part of the all-star season, if ever it happens.

“Uma Khouny from season one is such a character, he was controversial.

“Shocks, ang dami na kasing housemates since after that. Bea Saw was a big winner so hindi ko siya pwedeng i-All-Star.

“Uma’s my number one and then the others, I have little picks of who would be good. Sana mag-yes sila. Uma Khouny, Wendy Valdez, Karina Bautista, yan mga naiisip ko. Character.”

But what does she think is the secret of “Pinoy Big Brother” that it managed to last for 18 years and counting?

“I think that it’s just a very Pinoy format the way the team was able to do it kasi we actually thought that the 10th year will be like the last kasi I think that was also the contract with the company then was wrapping up.

“But parang everytime there’s a season, we open auditions, sobrang dami pa ring nag-au-audition even in the pandemic. Lalo na virtual, ang dami pa ring nag-au-audition.

“So, parang Pinoys, just aside from being on TV, they love seeing stars and other people on TV.

“So, ang feeling ko parang nakuha lang talaga niya yung kiliti ng Pinoy audiences and whether kilala nila ang ‘PBB’ from Commander Nene season or kilala nila because of Maymay season, di ba, parang there are still housemates that people are able to connect to and love until now? So, I think it’s that.”

Robi Domingo posts PBB photo with hosts

Meanwhile, it seems like “Pinoy Big Brother” is really set to make a comeback soon.

Robi Domingo, one of the hosts of “Pinoy Big Brother,” posted a group photo of the current hosts of the show: Bianca, Kim Chiu, Melai Cantiveros, and Enchong Dee.

Robi only captioned the post, “Hello” with a Philippine flag and globe emojis, signifying the show’s opening spiel: “Hello Philippines, Hello World.”

Netizens are now guessing if this means a comeback for “Pinoy Big Brother,” with its last season commencing in 2022. Anji Salvacion was declared its big winner.
