Carla Abellana Hopes To Become Closer With Bea Alonzo While Doing “Widows’ War”

“Hopefully, while we do ‘Widows’ War,’ we form a friendship din,” says Carla

Carla Abellana and Bea Alonzo’s tapings for their upcoming primetime series “Widows’ War” have already gone full swing.

GMA-7 has been posting photos behind the scenes of their shoot, including a sampalan scene and a flashback sequence where they are seen as good friends.

Although they have been sharing scenes, Carla admits that she is still in the adjustment phase since it is her first time working with Bea.

She says, “Actually, nahihiya pa nga ako kay Bea kasi kahit nakakailang taping days na kami, tinitimpla ko pa, kasi first time ko siyang naka-work, first time ko siyang makilala ng mas mabuti, I only know her from how I see her online and on TV.

“So, medyo ano pa ako, alalay pa ako sa kilos ko, the way I behave around her.”

Now that they can describe their relationship as “purely professional,” Carla hopes to be able to build a bond and friendship with Bea while doing the show.

Ako naman, I take my work seriously and siya rin, mukha namang siya din very passionate siya sa work niya and kapag nasa taping kami, purely business, purely professionals kami.

“But of course, hoping ako na mas maging closer pa kami, mas makilala ko pa siya ng husto, mas makapag-bonding kami and hopefully, while we do ‘Widows’ War,’ we form a friendship din.

Mahaba pa naman kaya kapag medyo na-shake off na yung back-to-work jitters, yung mga adjustment phase, hopefully mas makapag-loosen up pa kami.”

FreebieMNL had a one-on-one interview with Carla during the AiveeXRevive press launch at Grand Hyatt Hotel on May 9, 2024.

It was in January 2024 when GMA-7 announced that Bea and Carla would be working on “Widows’ War,” the third installment of its murder mystery series “Widows’ Web” (2022) and “Royal Blood” (2023).

The story of “Widows’ War”

On May 8, GMA-7 released an artcard that served as the first teaser for “Widows’ War.”

The artcard says: “Have you been betrayed by a friend?”

Carla says of this, “At least they are getting a better idea what it’s going to be about, hindi lang yan about widows kung hindi magkaibigan din. Itong dalawang widows na ito, they happen to be very good friends—in fact, best friends sila at some point.

“So, parang merong deception, merong unfortunate events na mangyayari kaya magko-cause yun ng kanilang falling out, ng kanilang friendship over.

“So, parang pakonti-konti, may mga ganung teaser, may mga ganung hints na for the public para mas malaman nila kung ano yung ‘Widows’ War.’”

Carla is aware that a lot are already anticipating the airing of “Widows’ War” but it seems like viewers have to wait a little more.

Even then, Carla assures those who are looking forward that the show is worth the wait.

“More or less, mga two months pa kami. We’ve been taping, marami na kaming nabuong napakaganda at pasabog na eksena, lahat kaming mga artist sa cast, yung buong cast, nakapag-taping na rin.

Ang ganda ng story kasi kahit papaano, ilang weeks na scripts na yung mga nakunan namin pero pagagandahin pa namin kaya medyo hintay hintay pa sila ng mga more or less two more months until mag-air yung ‘Widows’ War.’

“We’ll never know, wala pa namang exact date na nase-set for pilot airing but more or less, July ang target.”

Directed by critically acclaimed director Zig Dulay, the show is also top-billed by Jean Garcia, Timmy Cruz, Mark Herras, and Jeric Gonzales. Rafael Rosell and Benjamin Alves are also expected to play special roles.
