Cassy: “Best friends talaga kami”
Cassy Legaspi clarifies that she was not in any way romantically involved with Darren Espanto.
The 23-year-old Sparkle artist once and for all drew the line during an interview with GMA News—wherein she says that what she has with Darren is just a purely platonic relationship.
“It’s so hard to explain what we have pero best friends talaga kami,” Cassy explains.
Darren has stated the same thing in a separate interview—saying that it was difficult for some people to accept and understand, but he and Cassy are not linked other than just being close friends.
Darren says, “Sabi namin, best friends lang kami ni Cassy. Best friends talaga, e. Parang it’s something that a lot of people, I guess, won’t get. Hindi ko alam kung paano i-explain, but siyempre andun pa rin yung pagmamahal namin para sa isa’t isa.”
Cassy also clarifies that her recent Instagram posts were not related to Darren’s initial revelation. It just so happened that she likes to post song lyrics, which people might have given negative notions to.
Just as much, Cassy says that her mother Carmina Villarroel’s posts were also not in response to Darren—it was just that her mother likes to post bible and inspirational quotations on her socials.
Eagle-eyed netizens noticed that Carmina and Cassy have been airing cryptic posts on their Instagram stories following Darren’s interview.

Cassy’s twin Mavy Legaspi has also defended their mother from the tittle-tattle. In a separate interview with “24 Oras,” the 23-year-old actor-host says that his mother’s posts are published just as is.
“Ang daming nag-a-assume lang. Kaya si Mama lang, she just posts whatever she wants to post. Kasi it’s nothing related to whatever cases na nangyayari sa social media. She just posts it. She has her own life. She has her own problem sa buhay niya.”
Carmina is usually seen as a doting mother, as she has always been very vocal about protecting her kids from people who have ill intentions. She talks about this extensively during a YouTube interview with Boy Abunda.

Cassy Legaspi denies video uploads with Darren on Facebook
Following Cassy and Darren’s confirmation, netizens were surprised to see Cassy’s Facebook account being flooded by video clips that show some of their sweet moments.
However, Cassy insists in an Instagram post on Monday, April 15, 2024 that it was not her who uploaded the video. In fact, it was hacked in 2021, and the move was unfairly used to gain more likes and views.
Her statement reads, “This Facebook account USED TO be mine, until I was hacked in 2021. So to clear things up, this account is currently IS HACKED and not HANDLED BY ME. Would like to ask for help to report this account, thank you all so much.”
In a succeeding Instagram story, Cassy announced that she made a new Facebook account, which now has 23,000 likes and 52,000 followers as of writing.
