Denise Laurel will work with several Kapuso young actors for her comeback
Denise Laurel is back as a Kapuso after almost 20 years.
She is set to become part of the upcoming afternoon series “Prinsesa Ng City Jail” headlined by Sparkle love team Sofia Pablo and Allen Ansay.
A story conference was held on Friday, April 5, 2024, which was attended by its star-studded cast.
Denise shared photos from the storycon, with the announcement that she is now being managed by Popoy Caritativo. She was previously managed by ABS-CBN’s talent management arm, Star Magic.
The series marks Denise’s comeback with GMA-7 after being with ABS-CBN for 18 years.
Denise originally started as a talent of ABS-CBN as part of “Ang TV 2.” However, she transferred to GMA-7 in 2003.
She was part of the youth-oriented show “Click” and the telefantasyas “Mulawin” and “Encantadia.”
Denise then moved back to ABS-CBN where she was able to do different projects, with “Precious Hearts Romances: Midnight Phantom” as her big break. Her love team with Rafael Rosell was so well-received by viewers that they even had their own fan club called RafNise.
In 2010, Denise was doing the primetime series “Precious Hearts Romances: Kristine” when her character was suddenly written off. The following year, Denise successfully made a comeback and revealed that she got pregnant.
Since then, Denise would play lead and kontrabida roles in her TV projects like “Pintada,” “Annaliza,” “Nasaan Ka Nang Kailangan Kita,” “The Better Half,” “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano,” and “24/7.”
Her last project was the Piolo Pascual-Lovi Poe starrer “Flower of Evil,” aired in 2022.

Sofia and Allen headline “Prinsesa ng City Jail”
“Prinsesa ng City Jail” is Sofia and Allen’s follow-up project after last year’s “Luv Is: Caught In His Arms.”
Based on their posts, Sofia will play the character of Princess Pascual while Allen will take on the role of Xavier Bustamante.
The Sparkle love team’s co-stars in “Prinsesa ng City Jail” were also introduced during the story conference.
Sofia and Allen are reuniting with their “Prima Donnas” co-star Will Ashley for the series. Sofia and Allen also used to be a love team during their younger years in showbiz.
“Voltes V: Legacy” actor Radson Flores and Sparkle teen Lauren King are also part of the main cast.
Star Magic actor Dominic Ochoa is also part of the series. This marks his second teleserye with GMA-7 after “Abot-Kamay Na Pangarap.”
The project will serve as Beauty Gonzalez’s follow-up after the successful afternoon series “Stolen Life.”
Keempee de Leon, Ayen Munji-Laurel, Ina Feleo, Minnie Aguilar, Joyce Ching, and Al Tantay complete the cast of “Prinsesa ng City Jail.”
The project is helmed by directors Jerry Lopez Sineneng and Jojo Nones.
GMA-7 has yet to announce more details about the project, including its airing date.
