Ellen had quit smoking in June to prepare for the possibility of pregnancy
Derek Ramsay revealed that his wife, Ellen Adarna, recently went through a heartbreaking experience after they suffered a miscarriage.
Derek shared this to entertainment reporters during the media conference for the Metro Manila Film Festival entry “(K)ampon” on December 11.
Derek explained that they discovered Ellen’s pregnancy during their recent vacation in Spain. “Nung nasa Spain kami, nalaman namin na preggy si Ellen. And then, unfortunately, we lost the baby,” he expressed. Yet, he added, “Pero at least, alam namin na hindi kami baog.”

At the time, the couple noticed that Ellen’s period was delayed which, Derek says, “She’s never delayed.”
While in Spain, Ellen took a pregnancy test that showed a positive result. However, on their way back, Ellen began experiencing spotting, a concerning symptom.
Derek then said, “Nag-i-spotting na siya, and then eventually, we lost the pregnancy.
“There’s nothing major. Hindi niya kailangang magpa-raspa or anything. It was still early on in the trimester, a few weeks lang naman,” Derek added.

Now, Derek and Ellen’s primary focus is to move forward and try for another pregnancy.
In June 2023, Ellen had quit smoking after 17 years in preparation for the possibility of becoming pregnant.
Ellen and Derek, married in 2021, had before expressed their plans to have a baby this year.
