The project was announced during the ABS-CBN Christmas Special on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 as one of the upcoming projects lined up for 2024.

“It’s Okay Not To Be Okay” will serve as Anne’s return to doing a Kapamilya series.

It has been nearly 10 years since she graced the primetime block for the titular role of “Dyesebel” in 2014. Before that, she also did “Green Rose” in 2011, “Dyosa” from 2008 to 2009, and “Kampanerang Kuba” in 2005.

Joshua, on the other hand, is fresh from the successful run of GMA-7 and ABS-CBN’s collaboration “Unbreak My Heart” with Jodi Sta. Maria, Gabbi Garcia, and Richard Yap.

Carlo will also take a new dip in doing a series following the success of the ANIMA-produced film “Third World Romance” with his real-life girlfriend Charlie Dizon.

“It’s Okay Not To Be Okay” follows the story of Moon Gang Tae, a community health worker who will eventually develop a fond relation with Ko Moon-Young—a successful children’s book author with antisocial behavior.

Further details about the Philippine remake are yet to be disclosed, including the shooting date, director, and premiere.

Back in 2022, it was rumored that “It’s Okay Not To Be Okay” will have a Philippine adaptation, with Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil playing the lead characters.

At the time Liza had several changes in her career early this year, her former manager Ogie Diaz revealed that indeed, the project was offered to them but Liza decided not to accept the project.

Other Kapamilya projects arriving in 2024

ABS-CBN has promised a year full of visual treats as it also announced other upcoming projects lined up for 2024.

Before the announcement of “It’s Okay Not To Be Okay,” the Kapamilya Network initially announced that it will be doing a remake of another popular South Korean series, “What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim.”

It will be bannered by Kim Chiu and Paulo Avelino, as announced by ABS-CBN and Viu Philippines on November 21, 2023.
