Danica Sotto-Pingris Recalls Going Through Baby Blues After Giving Birth

Danica Sotto recalls about husband Marc Pingris: “Iyak ako nang iyak lagi kapag umaalis siya!”

Danica Sotto-Pingris admitted that she went through baby blues after giving birth to her youngest child, Jean Luc.

Danica gave birth to Jean Luc via caesarian section on January 15, 2023, and turned one this year.

During those times she was going through baby blues, Danica would become emotional that her husband, Marc Pingris, and even her two older kids, would become the object of her breakdowns.

Danica explained to FreebieMNL, Hindi siya postpartum depression, but I went through baby blues. I remember Marc was so busy with this league. Parang he became a commissioner of a league for a certain period of time and that required him to travel na Manila, Davao, Manila, ganito.

“So, I went through that for, like, how many months? But I knew na it was all because of my hormones kasi nga, third ko na, e. So, hindi na ako, ‘Ano to? Na-de-depress ba ako?’ Parang alam ko na kung ano yun. Alam ko nang it will get better.”

How would Marc react to Danica’s mood swings?

Laughing, she answered, “Sanay na! Minsan nga tumatawa, naiinis nga ako, e. Pinapagtawanan na lang [niya] yan.

“’Tapos, sinasakyan lang din ako kung ano yung mind ko noon, noong state ng mind ko.”

But Danica thinks that the worst baby blues she experienced was after giving birth to her firstborn, Mic.

She expounded, “Siyempre, parang, ‘Whoa! Biglang nagbago lahat.’

“‘Tapos I felt like, ‘Bakit sila parang normal?’ Tapos ako, iba na yung schedule ko, tulog ko, katawan ko, di ba yung ganon?

Sa second, hindi masyado kasi I knew nang it was something that I will go through. ‘Tapos ito ulit, parang medyo ganon kasi nga, ang tagal nung gap. So, I also struggled with breastfeeding the first few weeks.

“Doon din ako naano na parang, ‘Ano ba yan?’ Parang feeling mo, kaunti yung milk mo, ganun-ganon.

“But thankful kasi iba na ngayon, e. With the technology and all the mga parent hubs and parent groups, marami na ring tulong talagang available.”

Danica is thankful to be part of parenting groups and programs to support what she was going through.

Di ba, meron tayong mga iba-ibang… sila Parenting Emporium. So parang, they have products for babies, but at the same time, may mga ano din sila, e, seminars.

“So, attend ako ulit, mga ganyan, kasi medyo nakalimutan ko. May mga ano na siya, help na talaga.”

FreebieMNL spoke to Danica in a recent interview at the Marie France clinic in Makati.

Danica’s adjustments

At the time of the interview, Danica was still in the adjustment stage for her third baby, Jean Luc.

She said, “Siyempre, noong una, sabi nga nila sa Tagalog, nanganay. Kasi nga, I mean, my last baby was 11 years ago pero you know, okay naman din because since the two other kids are older, nakakatulong na sila. So, parang may mga assistant na ako.

“Although ngayon, parang mas madali kasi parang ang dami ng gadget ngayon na kahit yung mga breast pump, ibang-iba na. Ang dami nagbago in 10 years.”

But since it has been 11 years, Danica also had to relearn some things as a mother who had just given birth.

“Slight. Slight back to zero kasi pati gamit, wala na, e, lalaki na, e. But, fun kasi it’s something na ginusto naman talaga namin.”

Right now, Danica is going back in shape through workouts, diet, and treatments in Marie France.

She counts FMS Elite and Endermologie+ as her favorites.

Danica explained, “FMS, yun yung cold wrap. So, they wrap you dito sa parang rubber siya na 10 degrees, ganun kalamig, for 30 minutes.

“So una, hate ko siya, and then parang noong nakita ko na nag-wo-work siya, ni-love ko na talaga siya.

“And then, the endermologie, they have a machine na para ka lang may mina-massage. So, may kaunting tugging and pulling ng skin, ‘tapos nama-massage siya and yun yung naghe-help with the circulation and body contouring so nakakatulong din talaga siya to jumpstart my fitness journey.”

Danica also appreciates how Marie France help her adjust her body after giving birth and now that she is breastfeeding.

“After I gave birth na, mga a few months old na si baby kasi siyempre, una, cesarean section din. So, may mga treatments na hindi allowed. So, I had to get go signal from my doctor.

“Actually, parang in-allow ako four months pataas na na pwede kasi most of the treatments kasi dito sa tiyan, di ba? At saka, also, I’m breastfeeding.

“So, hindi ka naman pwedeng mag-sobrang diet. Dito kasi holistic yung journey, e. So, they also teach you how to eat properly.

“So, siyempre, may mga konting tatanggalin ng mga bad na… hindi naman bad na food pero yung mga food na hindi nakakatulong. So, titignan din nila yun, nung nutritionist, and siyempre, since I’m still breastfeeding, hindi naman pwedeng sobrang cut ng sobrang calories. So, pati yun, iko-consider nila.
