How Colourette CEO Nina Dizon Keeps Track Of Her Expenses

Nina stresses the importance of tracking expenses: “Hindi mo mamamalayan, ‘Oh my God! Wala na ‘kong pera!”

Colourette Cosmetics CEO Nina Dizon proves her business savviness as she shares spending extra effort to manage her finances effectively.

As a business owner, Nina does not claim that she has already mastered the ropes of handling finances.

However, she is sure of getting the hang of it compared to how she was doing in the past years. Overall, she believes that it is a constant process of learning.

She says, “Honestly, for me, it’s still something that I’m continuously learning. Hindi ko pa sasabihin na I’m super expert at finances pero versus where I was a few years ago and where I’m currently at right now, so, siguro masasabi ko na mas wise naman ako ngayon.

Mas intentional yung spending and there is a true effort in saving this time.”

Apart from being an entrepreneur, Nina is also a doting mother of two.

She emphasized separating what she spends in her company from her personal expenses.

In her words, “My business is an entirely separate entity, pero now that I have kids, mas naging conscious talaga ako sa saving kasi siyempre, I want to guarantee the day we’ll have a stable future.”

What pulls Nina more into staying financially reminded is having a record of her spendings.

Especially with the help of finance super-app GCash, she stays in the loop of her purchases. The more she’s aware, the greater self-discipline she has.

Iba yung concept.

Kasi ‘pag yung liit-liit, ‘di ba, ‘tapos hindi mo mamamalayan, ‘Oh my God! Wala na ‘kong pera!”

GCash is the leading e-wallet in the Philippines that provides financial services at the tip of Filipinos’ fingers.

The Colourette community

Meanwhile, Nina is delighted by the rain of support Colourette has been getting for the past years.

She believes that her brand was able to build a community with authentic relationships not just with her products but with her as well.

Nina says, “I feel really, really flattered and sometimes tinatanong ko nga, I don’t know what I did to deserve such a loyal community and of consumers na parang we’re always so engaged. The genuine relationship is really there.”

What does she think is the reason behind Colourette’s success?

She explains, “On my end, I’m just really trying my best to stay true to our core value of being inclusive, being made for Filipinos and giving them products na they deserve–highly innovative, super affordable, and always value for money.

“The goal is to build a brand talaga na sustainable, na it’s gonna last generations.”

Nina can say that this goal translates to the products they sell to their consumers.

“At the end of the day, it’s really the brand vision. Anong gusto mo ma-achieve and at the same time, how do you execute that message? Siguro for us, we really put thought into it, in the products that we launch, and yung vision talaga namin is we wanna be here and stay a very, very long time.”

Nina launched Colourette Cosmetics in 2015 out of her passion for makeup and with the mission to champion inclusivity. For nine years, her brand has not ceased to create cosmetic products “for Filipinos, by Filipinos.”
