Veteran Actress Jaclyn Jose Passes Away At 60

Veteran actress Jaclyn Jose died at the age of 60 on Sunday, March 4, 2024—as announced by her talent management PPL Entertainment Inc.

The reason behind the veteran actress’s passing is yet to be disclosed, with her bereaved family asking for privacy and respect during their moments of grief.

The statement reads, “It saddens us to inform everyone of the untimely passing of Miss Jaclyn Jose (real name Mary Jane Guck). 

“More details will be shared as soon as they are available.

“The Guck and Eigenmann families are requesting for everyone to please pray for the eternal repose of Miss Jaclyn Jose and for them to be allowed respect and privacy to mourn her passing, and navigate these difficult times.”

Jaclyn has two children—Andi Eigenmann and Gwen Guck. Andi is Jaclyn’s daughter with late actor Mark Gil, while Gwen is her son with “The Dawn” member Kenneth Ilagan.

Years before sealing her name as a household name in the industry, Jaclyn was once a newbie who debuted via Pascual Films and Associates’ “Chikas” in 1984. 

In the ensuing years, Jaclyn had been consistently making waves in sensual films, some of which include “White Slavery” in 1985 and “Private Show” in 1986. 

Continuing her momentum, she then appeared on-screen playing notable roles in “Celestina Sanchez Alyas Bubbles/Enforcer:Ativan Gang” (1985), “Takaw Tukso” (1986), Misis Mo Misis Ko (1986), “The Flor Contemplacion Story” (1995), “Sarong Banggi” (2005), and many more.

Her feat in film bears just as successful as her television journey, with numerous series solidifying her s, household status even stronger.

Some of her laudable ABS-CBN series are “Familia Zaragoza,” “Mula Sa Puso,” “Hiram,” “Ikaw Ang Lahat Sa Akin,” “Prinsesa Ng Banyera,” “Dyosa,” and “Reputasyon.” 

As for her Kapuso series, the list includes “Sana Ay Ikaw Na Nga,” “Makita Ka Lang Muli,” “MariMar,” “The Millionaire’s Wife,” “Alyas Robin Hood,” “My Korean Jagiya,” “The Better Woman,” “The World Between Us,” and “Bolera.” 

Due to her passing, Jaclyn left her role in the ongoing Kapamilya series “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo” wherein she plays the role of Supt./BGen. Dolores Espinas. 

Jaclyn takes her place as one of the pillars of the entertainment industry, mainly for achievements and works she embedded in showbiz. 

In 2016, Jaclyn was hailed as the first-ever Filipina recipient of the prestigious Best Actress award from Cannes Film Festival in France. The merit was given for her important portrayal in “Ma’ Rosa.”
