Jennylyn says: “Umiiyak akong ganun ‘tapos yung patay, sinisiko ako!”
Jennylyn Mercado and Xian Lim are working for the first time in GMA-7’s primetime series, “Love. Die. Repeat.”
It tells the story of Angela (Jennylyn), who had to endure the pain of losing her husband (Xian) due to a freak accident over and over again because of a time loop curse.
One of the most crucial scenes they shot for the show was how Jennylyn’s character mourned and lamented the death of Xian’s character when she was crying over his remains at the morgue.
Apparently, it was also one of the most unforgettable scenes they shot because of a funny story behind the scenes that strengthened Jennylyn and Xian’s bond on the show.
During the media conference for “Love. Die. Repeat.” on January 8 at Luxent Hotel, Jennylyn shares how the scene became a challenging yet funny one to shoot.
Laughing, Jennylyn first asks Xian, “Okay lang, Xian, kwento ko?”
Jennylyn then recalls, “Napanood niyo yung eksena na nasa morgue si Xian? Siyempre, iiyak ako. Di ba, kapag sa morgue, yung patay walang suot?
“Si Xian, topless, nakakumot lang na ganun. ‘Tapos iiyak ako, niyayakap ko siya, hindi ko alam na may kiliti siya!
“So, umiiyak akong ganun ‘tapos yung patay, sinisiko ako! ‘Tapos tinitignan ko siya ‘tapos natitigil yung emosyon [ko] kasi sinisiko niya ako!”
A shy Xian then interrupts Jennylyn to explain his part.
Smiling, Xian says, “No, kasi nakahiga lang ako, hindi ako pwede kumilos.
“Kasi sinasabi ni Direk Jerry [Sineneng], ‘Huwag ka munang huminga, Xian. Nakikita kita, tumigil ka!’
“’Tapos, mahirap na nga po yung eksena, nagmamadali na kami’t lahat, si Jen and my mom (Shyr Valdez) are crying ‘tapos si Jennylyn, nandito sa area na ito.”
Pointing at his chest, Xian continues, “Dito po siya sumisigaw, so, parang hirap na hirap na po ako ‘tapos sinisiko ko na lang siya paalis!”
Even then, Xian is grateful for such moments as these made their set light amid the heavy drama they are doing.
“I think yun po yung mga little moments na mga bloopers o mga halakhak naming mga moments but mabigat po talaga siya na teleserye.
“It’s really drama tungkol sa mga pinagdadanaan ng mga asawa at pamilya.”

Accident scene
Another crucial scene in the show was Xian’s car accident scene where his body was over a wrecked car, covered in blood.
Admittedly, it was a very hard scene to shoot as Xian and Jennylyn had to repeat it several times as part of the time loop effect.
As such, there are differences or modifications in each version as the story progresses.
Xian shares, “Mahirap po, sobra because, Direk, gaano natin siya katagal shinoot? Three days? Parang one week po siya! Hahaha!
“Pero it is hard, siyempre, to be covered in blood always pero wala naman po yun compared sa pinagdaanan nila Jennylyn, nila Ina [Feleo] na maya’t maya sumisigaw.
“Kada take, sumisigaw. So, ako, nakahiga lang po ako sa mainit na truck.”
As for Jennylyn, she says about the series: “Wala akong eksenang masaya! Lahat umiiyak lang.
“Napaka-challenging for me. Hindi ko alam kung paano ko siya nagawa.”
“Love. Die. Repeat.” premieres on January 15 as part of the launch of GMA Prime, the rebranded primetime block of the Kapuso network formerly known as GMA Telebabad.
It premieres at 8:50PM, back to back with another new teleserye, “Asawa Ng Asawa Ko.”
The show is directed by Jerry Lopez Sineneng and Irene Villamor, with Nonie Buencamino, Shyr Valdez, Samantha Lopez, Valeen Montenegro, Valerie Concepcion, Ina Feleo, Victor Anastacio, and Mike Tan as part of its cast.
