Is Judy Ann playing a kontrabida role?
Judy Ann Santos is set to make her acting return with the upcoming Kapamilya series “The Bagman.”
In an announcement made during ABS-CBN’s Christmas Special on December 13, “The Bagman” is one of the upcoming projects lined up for 2024.
The 45-year-old actress will play as president of the Philippines as confirmed by her official Instagram page, @officialjudayph, on Tuesday, December 19, 2023.
In a series of photos shared by the page, Judy Ann can be seen in a modernized Filipiniana ensemble. Behind her are two symbols of the Philippines—the Philippine flag and the official crest of Philippine Presidency.
The post comes with a simple caption that reads, “Meet the President.”
In another post, Judy Ann dons a white-collared formal blouse that radiates an authoritative vibe. In one of the slides, she is photographed with Arjo Atayde who was initially announced as one of the leads of the series.
Further details about Judy Ann’s role, filming timelines, and other cast members are yet to be announced.
“The Bagman” as remake continuation of “Bagman”
It was confirmed in March 2023 that ABS-CBN will do a remake of its 2019 socio-political show “Bagman.”
Also bannered by Arjo, the original “Bagman” series follows the story of Benjo Malaya who takes in discreet side jobs from a governor to keep his humble shop open.
The latest version, on the other hand, will serve as a continuation of Benjo’s story. However, this time, he takes a more dangerous quest by accepting orders from the president of the Philippines, which will be played by Judy Ann.

Prior to announcement, Judy Ann has also wrapped up an Erik Matti-directed series with Edu Manzano in August 2023.
Judy Ann’s last series was in 2019, when she bannered ABS-CBN’s “Starla.”
