Karina Bautista quips: “From being in a love team, ako naman yung magpapayanig sa mga love team!”
“Pinoy Big Brother: Otso” graduate Karina Bautista declares that she’s open to playing third wheel to popular Kapamilya love teams for her next project.
In an interview with FreebieMNL during the June 3 PIEsta PIEnalo Grand Mall Show event at TriNoma Activity Center, Karina expressed how she is game for the challenge.
She says, “Sabi ko naman, I’m very into character roles, so, game na game ako dito and feeling ko, mae-enjoy ko yung journey na yun.
“Kasi kakaiba, from being in a love team, ako naman yung magpapayanig sa mga love team! Hindi, joke lang. Pero I’m game for the challenge.”
Karina was previously paired with Aljon Mendoza during their stint in “PBB.” Their tandem, called KarJon, was part of several projects such as “Sandugo,” “Hoy Love You,” and “Viral Scandal.”
Aljon is now paired with singer Jayda while Karina is on her path as a character actress.
But of course, being a third wheel comes with bashing from loyal fans of love teams. Karina proudly says she’s ready for this.
She explains, “Actually, expecting na ako and kahit sila ate Dimples [Romana], they always say, ‘Kung yan ang papasukin mong larangan, be ready for a lot of bashers kasi maraming solid fans itong mga love teams natin.’
“Pero ako naman, I went through bashing na, so, medyo sanay na ako dito. I don’t think I’ll be fazed and feeling ko, kung ma-bash man ako, parte yun ng trabaho ko.
“Ibig sabihin, effective yung acting natin, so, yun yung nilu-look forward ko rin.”
In fact, she has told her managers from Rise Artists Studio, Mico del Rosario and Inang Olive Lamasan, that this is the path she wants to take as an actress.
“I’m actually looking forward to kontrabida, bida-kontrabida, or any character role, basta maganda yung plot ng story and ako, mas gusto ko yung gray characters talaga, yun medyo di mo alam kung saan mo siya ipe-place.
“So, sinabi ko naman kina Inang, Sir Mico na this is the path I’m ready to take.”
Teleserye and PIE Channel
As of now, Karina is looking forward to being part of a teleserye that has yet to be revealed.
She hints about the project, “Meron po tayong serye although na-announce na ito pero di pa ako na-announce na kasali doon.
“Pero out na siya in public pero di ko muna sasabihin kung alin doon. So, isa siya sa mga naka-line up for this year.
“Medyo namo-move lang siya ng kaunti pero tuloy na tuloy pa rin sya.”
While waiting for the series, Karina enjoys working for PIE Channel, where she serves as one of the hosts of “The Chosen One” with Jameson Blake.
As PIE Channel enters another year, Karina is looking forward to doing more shows for them.
She expounds, “Noong first season kasi niya, lagi akong guest co-host. Ngayon naman, nabigyan ako ng chance para maging host for ‘The Chosen One’ and sana, makasama pa rin ako sa susunod na taon kasi talagang very interactive siya sa mga tao.
“I just want to have more fun and mas makilala at makatrabaho ko yung mga kasama kong PIE jocks.”
Her stint in PIE serves as a fulfillment of her dream as a host when she was still a student.
But for Karina, her ultimate goal would be hosting the show where she started, “Pinoy Big Brother.”
“Ako naman po talaga, dream ko ang pag-hosting. Before po ako mag-acting, host na po talaga ako. I started doing it sa school, doon ko na-build tapos nagpa-pageant ako, radio prod, TV prod, tapos napunta ako dito sa hosting.
“I’m hoping nga sana, makasama ako sa susunod na ‘PBB!’ Pero learning pa rin and young pa rin naman ako, so, I’m getting there pero I’m enjoying the journey.”
