Kristel: “11 years akong fan ni Seo In-guk kaya kahit hindi ko forte yung hosting, tinanggap ko ‘to”
Kristel Fulgar was dropped at the last minute from hosting an event for South Korean singer-actor Seo In-guk on Saturday, August 12.
The 28-year-old actress was initially handpicked as the host for the Fallen For Seo In-guk event at the New Frontier Theater. But hours prior to the event, she took to Instagram the news that she would no longer be hosting the program over “unforeseen circumstances.”

While Kristel reveals that she’s “deeply saddened by this turn of events,” she also acknowledges that the decision was “made beyond our control.”
If any, she assures her fans that her support for Seo In-guk will come no less, and that she will continue to cheer the 35-year-old actor in his endeavors.
The event still pushed through, with DJ, former “PBB” housemate, and YouTube content creator Karen Bordador taking over Kristel’s supposed hosting spot.
Many have then expressed their disappointment in Kristel’s comment section, including celebrities and internet personalities who offered Kristel their consolation.
Kristel Fulgar elaborates her sudden pull-out from hosting
Kristel created a YouTube vlog, which she uploaded on Tuesday, August 16, to explain the issue at length. As for her, it was her first time dealing with that kind of “scenario” in her 20 years of being in the entertainment industry.

A tear-eyed Kristel reveals that she arrived at 7 a.m. and did her rehearsals only for the Korean technical director to tell her she would not be hosting anymore.
She says, “Parang, ‘Huh?’ Sandali lang naman, parang anong nangyari?
“Parang ang tagal ko ‘tong pinrepare. Ang tagal kong pinrepare yung sarili ko dito.
She even mentions that this is the first hosting stint she accepted, and such is owed mainly to her support for Seo in-guk.
“Alam ko, hindi naman ako super expert sa hosting. Pero alam ko na kaya kong mag-connect sa mga kapwa ko fans ni Seo In-guk. Kaya yun talaga yung pinakagusto ko.
“11 years akong fan ni Seo In-guk kaya kahit hindi ko forte yung hosting, tinanggap ko ‘to kasi tinitingnan ako as representative ng mga fans ni Seo In-guk. So, hindi lang ako magiging host sa stage, kung hindi, magiging fan ako.”

She further reveals that during rehearsals, she’s not used to giving her 100% of energy. And if the issue was her timid energy, she made a promise of giving it all during the program proper.
“Nag-e-expect ako na ipapakyat ulit ako sa stage para mapakita ko yung 100 percent na sinasabi ko pero hindi daw. And currently, nag-contact na sila ng ibang host.
“Sinasabi nila na, ‘Gusto lang namin ng magiging magandang event,’ hindi man lang ako binigyan ng second chance para mapapatunayan ko yung sarili ko.
An emotional Kristel then offers her apology to her fans who ran extra efforts of buying tickets just so they could see her and the Korean actor together on stage.
Epic Events, the promoter of Seo In-guk’s event, also released a statement about what happened.
The statement reads: “We would like to thank Kristel Fulgar for her professionalism and being a class act all throughout! She was one of the earliest to arrive and was already at the rehearsals at 7AM and gave positive energy to everyone!
“We exhausted all efforts to have her part of the program; even to just have one song number/duet with seo in guk for the fans but as mentioned in the vlog, the decision to have her no longer host was not from our end.
“We again would like to thank Kristel and her family for being the nicest people and showing nothing but love and respect even on what transpired.”
Kristel Fulgar had a one-on-one interaction with Seo In-guk
Even with how things turned out, Kristel is still grateful for having close contact with her idol.
Following Kristel’s announcement, she subsequently uploaded a photo and video of her interaction with the South Korean star.
The photo comes with a Korean caption that translates to: “Nonetheless… I have accomplished it.”
Meanwhile the succeeding video shows her and the actor duetting “All For You,” the official soundtrack of Seo’s hit television drama “Reply 1997.”
Kristel first appeared as a mainstay in ABS-CBN’s kid-oriented TV show “Goin’ Bulilit.” Following this were appearances in other Kapamilya series “Maria Flordeluna,” “Dahil sa Pag-ibig.” “Got To Believe,” and “Bagito.”
