Laurice has an explanation why it’s this actress
Veteran director and actress Laurice Guillen reveals that “Asawa ng Asawa Ko” lead actress Jasmine Curtis Smith is not spared from being scolded during tapings.
Laurice—director of “Asawa Ng Asawa Ko,” together with one of its cast members Gina Alajar, has graced an interview with Boy Abunda on Thursday, January 4, 2024.
During the show, Laurice has faced Boy’s rapid-fire series of questions, which includes who among the cast members could be accounted for having so many takes during taping.
Laurice says, “Si Jasmine Curtis.”
Boy replies, “Sino ang madalas mong mapagalitan,” to which Laurice replies, “Si Jasmine din.”
Shortly after the break, Laurice explained why she had to scold Jasmine in most of the taping days . According to her, Jasmine’s character bears a sense of difficulty, as it carries heavy emotions and experiences.
Laurice shares, “Si Jasmine, madaming takes, madami akong yung sabi mo na pinapagalitan.
“Actually, it’s more of keeping her on track because she’s playing a role that’s been through a really extraordinary experiences, suffering.
So, I have to keep her always that…at this point of the…dito ka. Less of the Jasmine and more of the character.”
The series is about a wife (Jasmine) who was believed to be dead. Upon her return, she sees her husband (Rayver Cruz) already married to another woman (Liezel Lopez).
Laurice Guillen praises Liezel Lopez
In the same interview with Boy, Laurice was also asked about who is the “pinakamahusay” among the cast of “Asawa Ng Asawa Ko.”
Without hesitation, Laurice answers, “Sa roles nila, si Liezel Lopez.” She explains, “Intuitively, alam niya kaagad kung anong kailangan.”
According to a PEP.ph report, Liezel—who would play as the third party in the series—was chosen by Laurice after the actress’s superb performance in a Zoom casting call.
Boy then asks which does Laurice prefer more: an intelligent actor or an intuitive actor?
While acknowledging that intuition is also an indication of intelligence, Laurice says that an intuitive actor appeals to her more.
She explains, “Right away, ‘pag sinabi ko, alam na agad nila. Nati-trigger na agad yung personal experience nila na nagpa-parallel dun sa hinihingi.”
“Asawa Ng Asawa Ko” will air on GMA Prime starting January 15, 2024.
