“Definitely, may kaba,” says Kyline Alcantara
Kyline Alcantara and Mavy Legaspi admit that there is “kaba” as they get their first solo teleserye together, “Luv Is: Love At First Read.”
More so, their series, which aired its pilot on June 12, has replaced the top-rating game show “Family Feud” hosted by Dingdong Dantes, as it goes on a season break.
During the media conference of “Luv Is: Love At First Read” on June 8, 2023 at Novotel, Araneta City, FreebieMNL asked Kyline and Mavy if they feel pressure with the airing of their new show in the timeslot before “24 Oras.”
Kyline says, “Definitely po. Definitely, may kaba, and actually, tinanong po namin si Kuya Dong. Siyempre, magkaiba pong shows, e, right? So, tinanong po namin siya.
“[Sabi niya], ‘Maganda naman yung story niyo, so, just keep on promoting.’”
Despite the pressure they feel, Kyline believes that their project will be successful because of the whole team’s hardwork.
She continues, “Sobra po talaga yung kaba namin but I am manifesting na magiging successful po ito dahil napakagaling po ng cast namin, napakaganda po ng istorya namin, napakagaling ng mga direktor, staff, crew, and writers namin.
“So, sana po, maramdaman ng bawat Kapuso na nanunuod sa amin yung good vibes and kilig ng buong cast and off-cam.”

As for Mavy, he is just thankful that Dingdong gave his blessing that their project will do well in the timeslot of “Family Feud.”
He tells FreebieMNL, “We have Kuya Dong’s blessing. He’s very excited also about our show and when we guested in ‘Family Feud’ recently, he was really talking about it and he believes in it, and as much as he believes in it, the more I believe in our show.”
Mavy adds that the Kapuso viewers of all ages will surely love the relatable story that they have.
“I’m sure magugutushan yun ng mga Kapuso. It’s really a beautiful show and napaka-relatable from all ages for all ages. The leads are Gen Zs but the story is not only for Gen Z. [Pwede rin] for Gen X, or Millennials.”
“Love At First Read” is the second installment of “Luv Is,” an umbrella series showcasing successful Wattpad novels. The first was “Luv Is: Caught In His Arms” headlined by Sofia Pablo and Allen Ansay, which aired in January 2023.

Not on GMA Telebabad
In a separate interview after the Q&A, FreebieMNL asked Kyline about how she feels that her show is not airing on GMA Telebabad.
Although “Luv Is” was really meant to be placed on a pre-primetime slot, the first installment “Caught In His Arms” aired on the second slot of GMA Telebabad.
Kyline, however, says that timeslot does not vary as long as the story of the show is good and relatable.
She explains, “Hindi po ako mapili sa timeslot. As long as may project, maganda yung proyekto, maganda yung istorya, kahit saan naman po talaga.
“Of course, siguro, mas maganda nga na primetime but again, I am grateful sa kahit anuman po.
“Kung ilalagay kami sa umaga bago mag-‘Eat Bulaga,’ why not? Feeling ko, hindi naman nakadepende yun sa oras. Nakadepende sa ganda ng proyekto and sana po masubaybayan ng ating mga Kapuso.”
True enough, the show had a good start in terms of TV ratings as it registered a rating of 7.4% based on NUTAM People Rating Overnight Data.
Aside from MavLine, “Luv Is: Love At First Read” features Sparkle artists Therese Malvar, Bruce Roeland, Mariel Pamintuan, Pam Prinster, and Larkin Castor, with veteran actors Maricar de Mesa, Jackie Lou Blanco, and Jestoni Alarcon.
