Miles underwent surgery and oral radiation to treat her thyroid cancer
Miles Ocampo is proud to declare that she is now cancer free.
In a recent interview with Karen Davila, the 26-year-old actress opened up about her experience with thyroid cancer and her journey toward recovery.
Miles revealed that she was not actually aware of the cancer diagnosis until after the surgery.
She narrated, “Yung doktor ko, sinabi na ito ang situation ko na parang ayaw pa nilang sabihin yung cancer sa akin.”
It was a shocking revelation for the actress, but she emphasized the importance of early detection and how it potentially saved her life.
The cancerous growth was already malignant and had grown significantly. “Kung hindi ko po siya naagapan, posible talagang kumalat.
“If I hadn’t addressed it in time, it could have spread. I only found out it was cancer after the operation.”

As part of her treatment plan, Miles went through oral radiation after the surgery.
Now that she is cancer-free, Miles would need to take medication for the rest of her life as part of her maintenance, as well as regular blood tests.
She discussed, “Yes, I’m cancer-free. But, yun na nga, maintenance for life. Yung meds ko, habambuhay na siya. Doon na ako naka-base, kumbaga ‘yung weight ko rin. Doon na siya magbi-base kung papayat o tataba. Kasi every two months kailangan kong magpa-blood test para i-check kung i-adjust ba yung dosage.”
Reflecting on the whole ordeal, Miles emphasized how important faith in God is during this tough time in her life.
“Yung mga times na ‘yon na parang it’s so uncertain, hindi mo alam kung ano ang mga mangyayari, just trust Him. Trust Him, kapit ka lang sa Kanya, talk to Him.”
Miles’ recent accolade was her Best Supporting Actress win at the 49th Metro Manila Film Festival Gabi ng Parangal for her performance in “Family of Two.”
