Ariana Grande will be taking one of the coaches’ seats in the 21st season of “The Voice.”
The 27-year-old multi-hyphenate artist announced on her social media accounts that she will be joining the singing competition in its upcoming season, replacing Nick Jonas.
“Surprise!!! I am beyond thrilled, honored, excited to be joining @kellyclarkson @johnlegend @blakeshelton next season ~ season 21 of @nbcthevoice! 🤍 @nickjonas we will miss you,” she said.
New season, new coach
In a statement, Ariana said, “I’m so honored and excited to join ‘The Voice’ family! I have been a huge fan of the show for such a long time. I can’t wait to go head-to-head with the incredible coaches, get to know these new artists and help to take their craft to the next level.”
Nick congratulated Ariana and said, “You’re going to kill it next season! Welcome to the family 😎!”
“The Voice” Season 20 is still ongoing, with Nick Jonas, Kelly Clarkson, John Legend, and Blake Shelton as judges. Nick took the place of Gwen Stefani who previously had the slot as a coach-slash-judge in the 19th season. He also replaced Gwen in Season 18, which marked his first time as a “The Voice” coach.
John expressed his excitement about the new member of the show and said in a tweet, “So excited to welcome Ariana to our Voice family!!” Meanwhile, Kelly said that they will be “bringing y’all some powerful female energy” with Ariana’s arrival.
Aside from being named as the newest judge in “The Voice,” Ariana also achieved a new feat with her album, “Positions,” which is now the “best selling album by a female artist in the US this year by total units.” She also recently bagged the “Best Pop Duo/Group Performance” Grammy Award with Lady Gaga for their song “Rain on Me.”
