K-Dramas have attracted the attention of people all over the world, from different walks of life. If a K-Drama with an outstanding cast and plot gets released on Netflix, you can bet that you’ll see it trending almost every week until that K-Drama ends.

Korea has been releasing dramas for a long time, but it was around the early 2000s that they were being dubbed and shown on Philippine channels. To take a trip down memory lane, here are some of the early K-Dramas that used to be so popular even before streaming sites like Netflix were a thing. You might even find some of your favorite Korean stars of today in these K-Dramas that can be deemed as classics.

Full House

Watch Full House for the ultimate nostalgic trip. The drama is about a man and woman entering a contract marriage to be able to live under the same roof. Two of the most famous stars in the early 2000s of Korea star in this show – Song Hye-kyo (who will eventually star in Descendants of the Sun) and Rain.

Boys Over Flowers

This wildly popular K-Drama catapulted Lee Min Ho into a household name. The plot of Boys Over Flowers isn’t new because the manga it was based from called Hana Yori Dango has been remade numerous times in different countries (Meteor Garden, anyone?) but still, Boys Over Flowers remain iconic because of the cast, extravagant settings, and even the OST.

Coffee Prince

Goblin’s Gong Yoo stars in this cute romantic drama about a girl who always gets confused for a boy so she just accepts it as it lands her jobs. She eventually ends up working in a coffee shop whose boss eventually falls in love with her.

Secret Garden

Before Hyun Bin was in Crash Landing on You, he was starring in shows like Secret Garden. He stars as a narcissistic CEO who falls in love with a stuntwoman. This isn’t your typical romantic plot because the two end up switching bodies.

My Love from the Star

Starring the beautiful Jun Ji-hyun (My Sassy Girl) and the dashing Kim Soo-hyun (It’s Okay to Not Be Okay), My Love from the Star tells the story of a stranded alien on earth who falls in love with an actress.
