Another superstar is joining Season 21 of The Voice!
Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran will appear in upcoming episodes of the television series as a “Mega Mentor” to the artists who will make it through the Battle Rounds.
Ed’s job as a Mega Mentor is to help the members of all teams make decisions that will help them stand out in the next part of the show: the Knockout Rounds. During this stage, “artists are paired against a teammate once more, but select their own song to perform individually while their direct competitor watches and waits.”
“Utilizing his vast experience in songwriting, musical production, and performing to provide multi-faceted mentorship, Sheeran will guide the artists in their vocal and technical choices and tailor the artists’ songs to their strengths to bolster each performance,” a press release from NBC Universal read.
The current season of The Voice has four teams led by four coaches: Kelly Clarkson, Ariana Grande, John Legend, and Blake Shelton. Season 21 marks Ariana’s first time to work as a coach-slash-judge in the show, while Kelly, John, and Blake have already been coaches in previous seasons.
“I’m so honored and excited to join The Voice family! I have been a huge fan of the show for such a long time.” Ariana said. “I can’t wait to go head-to-head with the incredible coaches, get to know these new artists, and help to take their craft to the next level.”
