The Falcon and Winter Soldier series of Disney+ is finally coming this month! Marvel fans around the world are excited to finally see Sam Wilson inherit the mantle of Captain America as he fights alongside Bucky Barnes, the Winter Soldier.
We’ve luckily gotten a handful of trailers and footage of the show from Marvel, but we still don’t know much about what to expect from the series. Sam and Bucky are definitely an unlikely duo that we mostly saw bickering whenever they were on screen together in Captain America: Civil War, and watching them learn to fight alongside each other and put their abilities to the test as they take on the anti-patriotism group, The Flag-Smashers, will definitely be interesting.

However, TV critics recently got the opportunity to see exclusive footage from the show in advance. Generally, all the reviews so far seem to reach a consensus: The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, based on what they’ve seen so far, is classic MCU action and comedy that fans know and love. So, if that’s something you were missing while watching WandaVision’s more campy storytelling, then this might be what you’re looking for.
Critics noted that the fight scenes don’t hold back and that they’re a lot more intense and bloody than they would’ve expected. Of course, they also mentioned that Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan are stellar so far and are definitely making each scene work.
You can check out what they have to say so far for yourself here:
And if you liked the way #WandaVision dug into the trauma of being a superhero, you’re going to get a way more grounded version of that in #FalconAndWinterSoldier . And Sebastian Stan remains the MCU’s hot emo boi. (2/2) #TCA21. pic.twitter.com/Nz0DLyu6Vr

Marvel showed me an action-packed Falcon clip and a character-driven Bucky clip from @falconandwinter. The stunts were jaw-dropping. Like, I can't believe what they pulled off. Bucky's story, meanwhile, digs into the drama.

Clips made me VERY excited for this @disneyplus show! pic.twitter.com/imvNoJ2knt
2nd one was Bucky with a therapist where she was trying to get him to talk about his issues. Also featured some well shot action.

Both scenes show that @MarvelStudios is spending serious $$$ on their @disneyplus stuff but you already know that after watching #WandaVision. 2/2 pic.twitter.com/2QBKKVJY8o
First scene showed Falcon in a non-stop, 9-minute long action sequence.

Second was Winter Soldier in a few scenarios I will be vague about.
Both had the mix of action and humor you'd expect from the MCU, though w/o too many particulars about the plot #FalconandtheWinterSoldier
Oh, didn’t know we could talk about the two #TheFalconAndTheWinterSoldier sequences we saw! First was a big Falcon action scene. Fun but would have preferred something more character-based. The other, featuring Bucky, was really good – very much exploring who he is now. #TCA21

Got to see two pretty great scenes from #TheFalconAndTheWinterSoldier and surprised by how hard it hits. More blood than I was expecting; getting – appropriately – Cap and Winter Soldier vibes.
