Peaky Blinders Releases Trailer for Final Season

In the bleak midwinter and amid the new Omicron outbreak around the world, the period drama Peaky Blinders finally gave a glimpse of its sixth and final season. Yes, you can grab your beret and walking stick once again as the British show has released a new trailer

As expected, Thomas Shelby, who’s played by seasoned actor Cillian Murphy, is front and center in the minute and a half clip. “One last deal to be done, then we Peaky Blinders rest,” Shelby teased.

As a special treat to fans out there, Anya Taylor-Joy, who has exploded into worldwide fame due to her stint as Beth Harmon in Queen’s Gambit, is also featured prominently in the video. She entered the world of the Peaky Blinders in season 5 and is expected to play an important role in the sixth season.

Aside from Taylor-Jay, Tom Hardy, Paul Anderson, Finn Cole, and Sophie Rundle are part of the season’s cast. Unfortunately, Helen McCrory, who played the role of Polly Gray in the show, died before the show started shooting for the sixth season. The way the show will handle her untimely passing has yet to be disclosed.

So, what can fans expect from the last chapter of the Peaky Blinders? As per Variety, the show’s creator, Steven Knight, has this to say about the upcoming season: “What I’m doing with series six is continuing that struggle Tommy Shelby has in his opposition to fascism,” he said. “What I wanted to do is that when Tommy Shelby came back from WWI, he was emotionally dead. He was switched off because of his experiences and he was a nihilist, amoral, and would do anything.”

“He had one goal which was to accumulate money, but when he encounters fascism, something is brought back to life and he decides there is good and bad,” he continued. “And so that’s why he devotes his time to opposing it. And that continues in series six and many, many other things are gonna happen to Tommy that audiences will not be expecting. I think that the task of writing is more focused with each series. I’ve said this before, but I’ve always believed it’s true each time. And I believe it’s true this time: this is the best yet.”
There’s no official word as to when the final season of Peaky Blinders will be available worldwide. However, fans can expect it to drop some time within early 2022.
