Live-action anime adaptations can be difficult to get right. Anime simply has a lot of elements that are hard to convert into live-action, so adaptations tend to be received poorly by fans and critics alike.
There are successful adaptations, of course, and we hope that the live-action Cowboy Bebop will be among its ranks. But while we await the verdict on the upcoming live-action adaptation, we can at least be comforted of the fact that the opening credits are faithful to the original. Like the anime, it uses Yoko Kanno’s iconic Tank! song. It also emulates the style of the original one in its use of graphics and transitions.
Netflix’s version shows a lot more of the characters but it’s still able to showcase specific shots from the anime intro. While not a complete copy, the live-action version pays homage to the original.

The live-action Cowboy Bebop is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on November 19, 2021. It stars John Cho as Spike Spiegel, Daniella Pineda as Faye Valentine, Mustafa Shakir as Jet Black, and Alex Hassell as Vicious.
