Netflix’s adaptation of Julia Quinn’s Bridgerton series has been an online hit and viewers are eager for a second season as they were smitten by the lead characters played by Phoebe Dyenovar and Regé-Jean Page.
The good news is Netflix has already confirmed that there will be a Season 2 after the series reached No. 1 in 76 countries in its first 28 days of airing. Production begins in Spring 2021, with Lady Whistledown making the announcement herself on the official Brigderton Instagram page. In the meantime, here are other similar Netflix series to binge-watch.
Lady Whistledown fans will surely love her. Also adapted from a book series, Gossip Girl follows the lives of socialites from the Upper East Side. It’s basically a late 2000s version of Bridgerton, with all the drama and scandal of the elite being broadcasted by an anonymous blogger. You won’t be left with a cliffhanger because this series wrapped up in 2012, has 6 seasons, and a re-boot is currently in the works.
Continue your fascination with royal families in this historical retelling of the life of Queen Elizabeth II. Get a peek of what happens inside Buckingham Palace and live vicariously through the actors, Claire Foy and Olivia Coleman, who portrayed the role rather well. Just a heads-up though, the show isn’t 100% accurate so you’ll have to do some research of your own.
Another period drama to add to your list, except this has more action and adventure. Travel through time with Claire Randall in this adaptation of Diana Gabaldon’s novel and watch her battle with her head and heart. And if it’s the steamy scenes from Bridgerton that got you hooked, Outlander will not disappoint. There are currently 5 seasons, which will hopefully stave off your thirst for Simon Basset for a while.
