Modern dating can be so complicated, right? Globe Studio’s latest project, A Girl and A Guy, tackles the hardships of millennial relationships in this day and age.
Directed by Erik Matti of On The Job and BuyBust fame, the film is basically a modern tale of young adults navigating the tricky world of relationships, connection, and intimacy in today’s society. The film tells the story of a girl, the story of a guy, and the story of a girl and a guy.
So what did the esteemed director say about the film anyway? According to Manila Bulletin, Matti shared, “I film stories of mostly what I know. A Girl + A Guy is the first film I made where I had to go into a story I know nothing about. No amount of research I made could fully dissect what makes this young generation tick.”
“It’s a different kind of high directing without the safety net of truly understanding the subject. How these young adults traverse the exciting, fun and messy lives they are in balancing love, work and life is the subject of this movie,” he continued.
Starring commercial model turned actress Alexa Miro and up and coming star Rob Gomez, the movie is a little steamy, so you definitely shouldn’t watch it with the kids. Pau Benitez, Candice Ramos, Rosh Barman, Sarah Holmes, Carlo Tarobal, Emilio Francisco, Chloe Reyes, Roeder Camanag, Donna Cariaga, and Marina Benipayo join them as well. Critics have been saying a lot of good things, so it’s definitely worth the watch.
So what does it take for a relationship from turning into a relations***? You can find out by watching A Girl and A Guy exclusively on Upstream. It’s the first of the Pinoy originals to be available on the site. There’s nothing like supporting local, right?
