Former Momoland Member Nancy McDonie Signs Contract with GMA-7’s Sparkle

Nancy is interested to do a teleserye!

Korean pop star Nancy Jewel McDonie, also known as Nancy, is the latest addition to the roster of talents of GMA-7’s talent management arm, Sparkle GMA Artist Center.

On Monday, April 1, 2024, Sparkle officially welcomed Nancy to its stable of talents.

The caption reads, “Sparkle proudly welcomes its new international star, Nancy McDonie, to its diverse and stellar roster of talents. Get ready to witness her journey as she shines among the brightest stars in the industry! Welcome to Sparkle, Nancy.”

Nancy’s supporters called the Jewels, as well as the Momoland fans are ecstatic about the good news, with the hashtag #NancySparkles trending on social media.

Nancy is the second K-Pop star to sign with Sparkle.

Lapillus’ Filipino-Argentinian member Chantal “Chanty” Videla was the first K-Pop artist to join Sparkle in 2022.

Nancy’s former group, Momoland, debuted in 2016 under MLD Entertainment—the same company as Lapillus and Hori7on. A list of their hit tracks includes “BBoom BBoom,” “BAAM,” “Wrap Me In Plastic,” and “I’m So Hot.” The group parted ways in February 2023.

Nancy has been under the management of ATOC since September 2023, months after Momoland’s disbandment and contract expiration with her former agency.

Nancy on Running Man Philippines

According to a Boy Abunda’s report on “Fast Talk With Boy Abunda,” Nancy’s first appearance as a Sparkle artist is in the second season of “Running Man Philippines,” which was shot in South Korea.

Sparkle promises Nancy’s fans to look forward to her upcoming projects, such as TV series, movies, concerts, TV guestings, and product endorsements.

In 2020, Nancy was supposed to work in the Philippines under ABS-CBN’s “The Soulmate Project” with James Reid. The show, however, was shelved due to the pandemic.

Now, Nancy looks forward to doing teleseryes with GMA-7.

Nancy has frequently visited the Philippines for special projects. The recent one was for a YouTube variety show collaboration with her co-Korean artist Lee Minhyuk from BTOB.
