Get To Know The Members Of The New P-Pop Boyband 1621BC

Meet JM, JC, DJ, Migz, Pan, and Win of 1621BC

The Pinoy entertainment scene constantly sees an influx of boy bands. P-pop, as it is popularly called in the Philippines, dominates the local music industry for the past years as the likes of SB19 and BGYO consistently made waves among fans.

Drawing inspiration from those footsteps, JM, JC, DJ, Migz, Win, and Pan of the newly introduced P-pop boy group 1621BC promised to bring new perspectives and fresh musical approaches as a band.

FreebieMNL and a few entertainment reporters had a chance to get to know the members of this group in a recent roundtable interview, where they shared their beginnings and how they made it to the boy group.

So far, here’s what we knew about the 1621BC members.

JM

JM, a 21-year-old performer from Cavite City, has been pursuing the limelight for quite some time now. Aside from his time in “Dream Maker,” JM has also appeared in various commercials and joined ABS-CBN’s “BidaMan” on the noontime show “It’s Showtime.”

Failing to penetrate “Dream Maker” further, JM says that he had given himself one last chance before putting his dreams behind. At that time, he was thinking of working somewhere, but luckily, he shares that he’s been discovered and was given just another shot to pursue a career in music as part of the boy band.

JC

JC is a 19-year-old performer from Taguig. It seems like the showbiz blood is strong for JC as he is, in fact, a cousin of John Clifford from Sparkle Teens.

Just like everyone in the group, JC was discovered through ABS-CBN’s talent competition “Dream Maker.” Upon elimination from the show, JC says that he felt disheartened.

However, his dreams are bigger and just as much, his mindset is focused mainly on continuing to join auditions. Fueled by his determination to rise from a setback, JC says that the biggest challenge now is “self-competition.”

DJ

DJ is the youngest member of the group. The 16-year-old Cebuano says that “Dream Maker” was his first-ever television appearance. When things didn’t go as planned, an eliminated DJ decided to go back to Cebu.

Upon hearing that they were called back for the grand finals, JM packed his bags and decided to stay in Manila in hopes of finding an opportunity. Backed by determination, he was then asked to join as one of the members of 1621BC.

Migz

Migz, a pride of San Pedro, Laguna, shares that while they follow the steps of their kuyas—other boy bands—they don’t want to be compared to them. In fact, they take other boy band’s success as their motivation.

The 19-year-old singer says that family and studies are some of the sacrifices he made to be part of 1621BC.

Having been immersed in various roles and commercials, Migz says that his heart has always been in showbiz and never did he see himself performing. However, his feet had taken him to “Dream Maker.” And from there, he acquired a lot of learnings, including his hidden talent in singing and dancing.

Win

Win is a 20-year-old performer from Cainta, Rizal. Just like the rest, Win treats himself as his biggest competition. Such is so, since Win feels like, “Kailangan po namin mag-improve lalo na po sa every performance na gagawin po namin.”

Designated to check the social media of the group, Win says that people usually perceive their first single negatively.

He shares, “Yung concept po namin pinupuna po nila and yung styling po namin, nag-a-ala Korean po and parang di na po bago yun sa pinasukan namin na industry.

Despite this, Win remains positive and says, “Siguro ite-take rin po namin yun as constructive criticism po para po mas magkaroon po ng improvement po ang group namin.

Pan

Pan is another Cebuano member of the group. The 19-year-old performer reveals that he has been auditioning for quite a long time already. In fact, “Dream Maker” was the 21st audition he did, out of all the castings he participated in Bohol, Negros, ABS-CBN, and many more.

Pan shares that his road was never easy; there was a time that he and his mother had slept in front of the ABS-CBN building and they only got little food to share. Despite these ordeals, Pan says that these are just some of the things he would do to satisfy his “hunger” to perform.

Of all the existing boy bands in the local setting, 1621BC is set to bring a new musical perspective for the fans.

While keeping up with the lively beats of P-pop, the boy group aspires to introduce R&B and reimagine it into something more Pinoy.

Ultimately drawing great influence from western boy bands, such as Westlife, Backstreet Boys, and Boyz 2 Men, 1621BC is surely an act that promises to restore the classics.

1621BC has launched its first single “Laruan” on November 24, 2023 under ABS-CBN’s record label Star Pop.
