Pokwang’s camp claims that Lee was using a tourist visa while working in the Philippines for the past 8 years
Actress Pokwang filed a petition for the deportation of her ex-partner, Lee O’Brian, and the cancellation of his visa. This news broke on June 13, 2023, when the actress, whose real name is Marietta Subong, posted a photo of the complaint affidavit on her Instagram account.
In the caption accompanying the post, Pokwang wrote: “Para sa karapatan ko at ng anak ko, para sa mga kapwa ko babae at sa bayan ko.”
Her camp claims that Lee was using a tourist visa while working in the Philippines for the past eight years.
The comedian-actress tearfully said back then, “Gusto natin bigyan ng leksiyon yung mga taong nang-aabuso sa batas natin, yung sa karapatan ng bawat babae, ng bawat nanay.”
On June 26, the American actor filed a counter-affidavit against the petition for deportation filed by his former partner. Lee said in an interview that he has always “put the best interest [of their] daughter first.”
In an interview video posted by TV5 reporter MJ Marfori on June 26, Lee said that while he couldn’t comment on the details of his counter-affidavit, he appealed to Filipino authorities to look at his deportation case “fairly and with justice.”
He called Pokwang by her real name, Marietta Subong:
Lee said in his interview, “I just filed a counter-affidavit to the complaint filed by Marietta Subong. What I’d like to say: first of all, above everything, I always have respect for the mother of my child. Second of all, because this is kind of a quasi-judicial issue for the Bureau of Immigration, I can’t comment on details, that’s just the nature of the issue. But I want to say something: that from the beginning, throughout until today and beyond, from here on out, I always put the best interest of my daughter first.
“I love my daughter more than anything, all right. And I’d like to say also, given the fact that the complainant is very well known, widely known throughout this country and very, very influential, I am basically asking and pleading with the Philippine government and the Bureau of Immigration to look at my case, my deportation case fairly and with justice, according to the merits of the case and whatever I’ve filed here, I would plead with them to look at it justly.
“We filed a complete counter-affidavit in response to the complaint that was filed and that is basically all I can say because it’s now a judicial matter with the Bureau of Immigration.”
Pokwang and Lee first met in 2014 while working on the film “Edsa Woolworth.” They were together for six years and have a daughter named Malia, who was born in January 2018.
They have been separated since November 2021 and Pokwang claimed in the past that Lee did not give any financial support to their daughter and described him as “palamunin.”
