“Queen Of Tears” Finale Beats “CLOY” And Becomes Highest TvN Viewership Record Holder

The series became the top TV show on Netflix Philippines

The tvN series “Queen of Tears” wrapped up its run with a record-breaking achievement, setting a new viewership record for the network.

According to Nielsen Korea, the finale of “Queen of Tears,” which aired on Sunday, attained an impressive rating of 24.850%, surpassing the previous record held by “Crash Landing on You” with 21.683% in February 2020.

In “Queen of Tears,” viewers followed the story of Hong Hae In (played by Kim Ji Won), a chaebol heiress who marries a farmer’s son, Baek Hyun Woo (portrayed by Kim Soo Hyun). As their marriage faces challenges, they discover a renewed chance at love when Hae-in is diagnosed with a terminal illness.

Meanwhile, “Crash Landing on You” revolves around a fashion entrepreneur (Son Ye Jin) who finds herself in North Korea after a paragliding mishap. There, she meets a soldier (Hyun Bin), and their unexpected encounter leads to love.

The ratings data from Nielsen Korea, released on April 28, highlighted the success of “Queen of Tears,” which gained widespread attention from Korean media outlets.

In a post on its official X platform (formerly Twitter) on Monday, April 29, tvN celebrated the milestone by sharing behind-the-scenes photos of the cast.

“Queen of Tears” also made a significant impact in the Philippines, where it became the top TV show on Netflix, as reported by the local branch of the streaming platform.

The drama also gained traction internationally, topping the Global TOP 10 Non-English series for the week of March 25 to 31, with a total viewership of 93.8 million hours.

All 16 episodes of “Queen of Tears” are now available for streaming on Netflix.
