He’s legendary for a reason
Robert De Niro, the legendary actor of “The Godfather” and “Meet the Parents,” has become a father for the seventh time. His representative, Stan Rosenfield, confirms the news of the baby’s birth to USA Today, but no other details have been released.
De Niro has been married and divorced twice and has six other children. From his first marriage to Diahnne Abbot, he has two children: Drena and Raphael, aged 51 and 46, respectively.
He shares twins Julian and Aaron, 27, with Toukie Smith, with whom he was never married. He also has two children with Grace Hightower, named Elliot, 25, and Helen Grace, 11, who he married in 1997 and separated from in 2018.
During an interview with ET Canada to promote his upcoming film “About My Father,” De Niro announced the birth of his seventh child. He corrected the reporter who mentioned his six children, saying, “Seven, actually. I just had a baby.“
De Niro also spoke to the reporter about his parenting philosophy. He expressed his belief in being loving towards his children but also needing to be stern with them sometimes.
He says, “There’s no way around it with kids. I don’t like to have to lay down the law and stuff like that. But, [sometimes], you just have no choice. And any parent, I think, would say the same thing. You always want to do the right thing by the children and give them the benefit of the doubt, but sometimes you can’t.”
De Niro has won two Oscars, one for his supporting role in “The Godfather: Part II” and one for Best Actor in “Raging Bull.”
He has also been awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom and the Golden Globes’ Cecil B. DeMille Award for his contributions to the entertainment industry.
