In 2014, Rosamund Pike captured hearts all over the world with her performance as the master manipulator Amy Dunne in the 2014 thriller Gone Girl. While the actress has starred in many other projects, she has been synonymous with the seductive and dangerous character that earned her an Oscar nomination since then.
Well, the 42-year old actress is back with another ‘bad girl’ role you won’t help but love and hate at the same time. Last February 19, Netflix dropped a black comedy I Care A Lot with Pike recreating that fierce Gone Girl alpha female energy you wouldn’t want to cross.
In the film, Pike stars as Marla Grayson, a self-proclaimed lioness with a killer wardrobe and sheer determination not to lose. Grayson is a professional court-appointed legal guardian for elderly wards whose assets she seizes and takes for herself. In the course of the film, she finds a worthy match for her unapologetic scheming ways. According to Pike’s interview with British Vogue, ‘This is the most exciting female character I’ve read in years.’ Watch the film, and you will surely understand why.
Her performance is so mesmerizing it has gotten her a Golden Globe nomination. If that’s enough to pique your interest, the film also has a stellar star-studded cast. I Care A Lot also features Peter Dinklage of Game of Thrones, Eiza Gonzalez, Dianne Wiest, and Argo’s Chris Messina.
Aside from enjoying Pike’s incredible acting prowess, LGBTQ representation, and stylish moments, viewers will be on the edge of their seats as I Care A Lot packs a lot of twists and turns. You wouldn’t guess how the story ends. I Care A Lot is now streaming and trending on Netflix.
