Sharon Cuneta Teases Maine Mendoza About Alden Richards During “E.A.T” Debut Episode

Sharon seems to have brought back the kilig for AlDub fans

Megastar Sharon Cuneta could not help but tease Dabarkads member Maine Mendoza about her then-on-screen tandem Alden Richards during the debut episode of TV5’s newest noontime show “E.A.T.”

Sharon appeared as a special guest on “E.A.T.”, as it aired its first-ever episode under TV5 on Saturday, July 1, 2023. The program is currently bannered by former “Eat Bulaga!” trio Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon.

TVJ, together with Sharon, sang the classic OPM “Kahit Maputi Na Ang Buhok Ko“ for their final performance. After that, the trio requested for more, as they asked the 57-year-old celebrity to sing her song “Bituing Walang Ningning.”

Before doing so, Sharon mentioned Maine in a seeming attempt to tease her with Alden. She says: “Maine, congrats, ha! Nag-shooting ako ngayon, may kasama ako. Yung anak kong bago, yung bago kong son, yung pangalan niya, Alden.”

Maine seemed to have taken the humor in a relatively casual manner as she responds, “Congrats po sa movie ninyo, Miss Sharon.”

Sharon, who did not want to drop the ball that easily, then says: “Pero, congrats ha. Hi, Alden! Nandito si Maine. Hi, Direk Nuel.”

Sharon is referring to the director of their movie, Nuel Naval.

Maine’s reaction was not shown in the camera, leaving most of the fans curious of how she reacted after the quick exchange.

It seems like Alden Richards may have seen Sharon’s quick banter, as the Kapuso actor confirmed via message his support for Sharon.

In a publicized exchange on Sharon’s Instagram, the actor made an effort of messaging Sharon while watching the pilot episode. The IG post reads: “Cute my Alden yesterday. He was watching me daw. Miss you my son! I love you! @aldenrichards02.”

“E.A.T.” as a temporary program title

It was announced during the latter part of the program that the show will push through with “E.A.T.” as the title.

It stands for a number of meanings that the hosts had incorporated, such as “Every day and tawanan,” “Eto ang tunay,” “Eto ang tahanan,”  “Eto ang tinadhana,” and “Every day, always together” among many other variations.

However, Vic Sotto has hinted on a possible revamp and the reacquisition of their trademark title “Eat Bulaga.”

“Dabarkads, hinihintay pa rin namin ang pag-uwi ng pangalang itinawag sa amin for almost 44 years,” he says. More so, Vic emphasizes that, “Ang mahalaga ay sama-sama kami, sama-sama tayo.”

All things considered, the trio left a promise of bringing unwavering joy to the audience.

“E.A.T.” starts off with a festive opening number

The program officially started with a grand opening number from hosts Jose Manalo, Wally Bayola, Paolo Ballesteros, Allan K, Ryan Agoncillo, Maine Mendoza, Ryzza Mae Dizon, and Carren Eistrup, as they all jammed over OPM band Sandwich’s hit “Sugod.”

On top of that, TVJ brought in a moment full of emotions as the trio entered the TV5 HQ studio in Mandaluyong City while singing VST & Company’s “Ikaw Ang Aking Mahal.”

Some of their family members were seen present during the pilot episode including Tito’s wife, veteran actress Helen Gamboa, Vic’s wife Pauleen Luna, and Joey’s wife Eileen Macapagal- De Leon.

Also gracing the event were Vic’s son with actress Connie Reyes, Pasay City Mayor Vico Sotto. Oyo Boy Sotto, his son with actress Dina Bonnevie, came with wife Kristine Hermosa.

“E.A.T.” will run regularly from Mondays to Saturdays on TV5’s noontime block. It already has a lineup of segments that audiences may enjoy starting on Monday, July 3, 2023. “Wala Ka Sa Apo,” “Vortas 5,” and Wag Kayong Ganun” are some of these segments.
