Do you know about NFTs?
The digital art files being sold for hundreds of thousands of dollars have been all the rage in recent years, as cryptocurrency has found solid footing in the modern world. Though, while NFTs have captured the attention of the public, it seems that one person remains unimpressed.
“They’re easily reproduced,” Matrix star Keanu Reeves said after a laugh. The reply was part of Reeves’ Matrix Resurrections interview with The Verge, where Alex Heath asked about his thoughts on cryptocurrency, NFT collectibles, and the concept of digital scarcity. Needless to say, Reeves isn’t buying into the hot new trend. Watch the moment here:

Why people trying so hard to make virtual worlds as greedy as the real world?

NFTs, or non-fungible tokens, allows for unique digital files like drawings, animated GIFs, songs, or items in video games to be sold as if they were real, tangible items. They function on a blockchain, which work like receipts and can show the list of owners for one particular NFT.
Some Internet users swear by the new tech, calling it the new-age form of art collecting. Others, like Reeves, don’t find the point in it. Despite the criticism, however, business is booming.
Pieces from famous artists like Banksy have been selling for insane amounts of money, and the same can be said about memes, GIFs, and other digital items. Even a handful of celebs have gotten in on the action; most recently, Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry has launched his own NFT collection to celebrate his historic 3-point record. Socialite Heart Evangelista has also announced her entry into the NFT scene with creation of new artwork.
Fan or not, NFTs look like they’re here to stay. Let’s just hope we get more wholesome Keanu Reeves reactions out of it.
