Sylvia thinks of Zanjoe as “napakabuting asawa” to Ria
Veteran actress Sylvia Sanchez has extended her warm regards to Zanjoe Marudo, who recently became the newest member of their family following the actor’s wedding with Sylvia’s daughter, Ria Atayde.
Zanjoe and Ria got married in a civil wedding on March 23, 2024. The event administered by the incumbent Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte was attended by the couple’s closest friends and relatives.
In an Instagram post uploaded on Sunday, March 31, 2024, Sylvia was all-out grateful for having Zanjoe as Ria’s loving husband.
In a heartfelt post, Sylvia expresses, “Walang hanggang pasasalamat Panginoong JESUS dahil binigyan mo ng napakagandang regalo ang aking si Potpot @ria ng isang napakabuting asawa, marespetong bata, mapagmahal na kapatid, anak at napakaresponsableng tao.
“Unang araw ko kayong nakitang magkasama alam ko ng kayo ang magkakatuluyan. Naramdaman ko yan [smiling emoji]. Mother instinct [heart emoji]
“@onlyzanjoemarudo mula noon welcome ka na sa pamilya namin [smiling emoji] ginawa mo ng official noong 3-23-24.
“Sabi nga ng Daddy @xaviiart mo sa speech nya, ang aming pangatlong lalaking anak [smiling emoji] Kaya officially welcome to the Family Z anak [heart emoji]

Attached to the post are snippets from the wedding—including Ria and Zanjoe’s playful exchange of “I do” during their vows.
Sylvia’s nod to Zanjoe and Ria’s romance is very evident—particularly at the time she publicized the couple’s relationship in October 2022.
News of Zanjoe and Ria’s romance first made waves in August 2022, when they were spotted spending time together at a restaurant in New York, USA with some friends.

The couple got engaged in February 2024 as announced by Ria on Instagram, which she captioned with “Forever sounds good.”

This has not been the first time Sylvia has been cordial towards her in-laws. Much like her treatment to Zanjoe, her daughter-in-law with son Arjo Atayde, Maine Mendoza, has also received a warm welcome to the family.
