What is Teejay Marquez looking for in his next relationship?
Teejay Marquez revealed that he went through a heartbreak during the pandemic when he and his partner of nine years decided to break up.
Admittedly, the process of moving on took a while given the length of the relationship.
“Pero nalampasan ko naman,” Teejay tells FreebieMNL and other reporters during an interview at the media conference of “Broken Hearts’ Trip” on December 13, 2023.
For someone who chooses to travel and go to the beach whenever dealing with heartbreak or a sad moment, Teejay had to go through a breakup during the pandemic.
So, naka-survive naman.”
What was the reason why the relationship fell apart?
Teejay expounds, “Feeling ko, siguro ‘pag tumatagal yung relationship, na-fall out of love. May iba nang gusto, nagsawa o ganun. Hindi naman ako yun pero siyempre, kapag mahal mo yung tao, kailangan mo to set them free.”
Teejay admits that “nasayangan ako” and that he worked it out as much as he could, but in the end, he decided to let go of the relationship.
Even then, Teejay did not think of getting a new relationship immediately just to heal from the heartbreak.
“Hindi rin ako ready pa so nag-move on talaga ako at saka natakot ako kasi baka masayang ulit.”
Teejay’s healing process
But generally, Teejay is not the type to immediately go out and tell others about his heartbreak.
Instead, he explains, “More on ano ako, e, self-healing.
He also enjoys the beach, such as going to Boracay or Bali, whenever he deals with a heartbreak—may it be a breakup or a setback in life.

Next relationship
Is Teejay ready to fall in love again?
Smiling, he answers, “Dapat kusang dumating.”
He also welcomes the idea that the newfound love might come this 2024 in one condition.
He is also not specific on the qualities he is looking for in his next love, but there are non-negotiables.
“Siguro tanggap sana yung trabaho ko, yung nangyayari sa showbiz pero more or less, basta mahal, yung real love.”
As “Broken Hearts’ Trip” ends its MMFF run on January 7, 2023, Teejay will be busy with his next project, the Kapuso afternoon series “Makiling,” where he plays one of the kontrabidas.
