Tom Rodriguez Confirms That He Is “Seeing Someone”

Tom: “Once I was ready, it came at the right time”

Tom Rodriguez takes another chance in love, as he shares in an interview that he finally moved on from ex-wife Carla Abellana and is, in fact, currently dating someone. 

In an interview with GMA-7 News’ Nelson Canlas on Thursday, February 29, 2024, the actor says that he’s in a state of bliss and very much ready to give romance another shot. 

When asked “You think you’ll be ready to fall in love,” Tom replies with, “Yeah. I am now. In fact, I am seeing someone.” 

Tom emphasizes that the woman came in time for his full healing. As he puts it, “At that point, I was already there. Once I was ready, it came at the right time.”

The actor, however, bears apprehension when asked if he will ever reveal his romance to the public. He says, “I don’t know, magdadamot ako yata. Like what I said, I really want to keep it to myself. 

“But like I said, I’ll live my life like how it is now. So, eventually siguro everyone would, like, what they see is what they get. But for now, it’s my own now.” 

Tom spent his time in the United States for almost two years, following his controversial split with Carla. 

The couple were together for seven years, and then finally tied the knot in October 2021. Their separation followed three months after their wedding, with reason pointing to alleged infidelity. 

Is Tom Rodriguez ready to see Carla Abellana? 

Tom shares that his time in the U.S. was mostly dedicated to self-love, personal growth, and handing off the burdens to God. 

He says, “Relish the simple things, kung ano ang para sa’yo, mapupunta sa’yo na hindi kailangan, ‘Kailangan ganito, kailangan ganyan.’” 

“Learn to just resign yourself, resign yourself to the Lord. And He always provides and every step of the way na parang magkaka-anxiety ka, kasi tinatakot mo yung sarili mo.” 

Now that Tom seems to have found resolve over his controversial past with Carla, would he be ready now to face her? 

Tom answers, “For me, honestly, I don’t think it matters to me much. We have our own paths and our own lives now, and I wish her well and hers.” 

Just like Tom, Carla says in an interview with GMA News in January 2024 that she is well psyched up should she come face to face with her ex-husband. 

“I think naman okay lang. Ready naman ako. Hindi naman ako yung type na, ‘Ay ayoko,’ or avoidant or what. You know, it’s inevitable, ika nga,” Carla shares.

Tom last appeared in the GMA-7 series “The World Between Us” bannered by Alden Richards and Jasmine Curtis-Smith. Carla, on the other hand, is set to headline the upcoming Kapuso series “Widows’ War” with Bea Alonzo.
