“It’s too much of a splurge,” says Barbie
Barbie Forteza is very open on her social media accounts about how she’s a die-hard Taylor Swift fan.
But while other Swiftie celebrities—including her love-team partner David Licauco and their “Maging Sino Ka Man” co-star Rain Matienzo—went to watch Taylor’s “Eras Tour” concert in other countries, Barbie decided not to buy a concert ticket.
Instead, she was able to receive a gift from Rain, a piece of merch bought from the concert.
Barbie shared Rain’s gifts on social media with a video of her crying because of so much joy and appreciation.
But if she’s a big fan of Taylor, then why did Barbie skip Taylor’s concert?
She explains in a GMA News interview, “Kasi, para sa akin, ito po ay—sa akin lamang—I just feel like it is a splurge for me.
“Sabi ko sa sarili ko, if magpe-perform siya dito sa Pilipinas, I will definitely watch it.”

Barbie just doesn’t see it practical to buy a plane ticket and spend on hotel accommodation just to watch the concert.
“But to have to spend for a flight, accommodation, and siyempre, to maximize your time to wherever she’s performing, parang it’s too much of a splurge, especially [since] I’m coming from just finishing a house.
“So, parang if it’s just for that, I’d rather spend it for something else. Feeling ko naman magpe-perform siya ulit soon.”
Barbie’s three-story house—which she bought with her hard-earned money—has just finished construction. She has been sharing the progress of the house in interviews and social media posts and, for now, furnishing her house is her priority.
But the Sparkle artist is thankful to Rain for the sweet gesture of buying merch for her.
“‘Yung effort talaga ni Rain na pumila. Napakahaba ng pila sa merch talaga and yung friendship bracelet—talagang made me feel like I was there.”
Right now, Barbie is set to headline the upcoming period drama “Pulang Araw” with Alden Richards, Sanya Lopez, and her love-team partner David Licauco.
She is also set to go to Canada with David and other fellow Sparkle artists for the “Sparkle Goes To Canada” show.
