Dimples Romana does wonders for women of all shapes
Kapamilya actress and “Gud Morning Kapatid” host Dimples Romana runs a clothing business inclusive of women of different sizes.
In collaboration with the clothing line Get Spotted, she markets a collection of her pieces varying from dresses to tops, casual to fancy, neutral to vibrant, and slim-fit to plus-size.
All products are designed by the proud actress herself.
During a recent interview with FreebieMNL and other select entertainment outlets, Dimples has touched on the meaning behind her creations, as well as the connection of her advocacy with Get Spotted’s founder, Emgee Po-Jimenea.
The actress emphasizes, “We wanted it to be buffet-friendly. Ibig sabihin, kung kayo po yung tipo ng babae na gusto mong magbihis [ng] whimsical, sexy, pretty ka pero pwede kang kumain dahil hindi ka mag-aalalang babakat ang mga… tiyanenas.
“So, these things are very available not just for leaner women but also for women who have voluptuous bodies.
“Kasi halos lahat ng silhouette niya maluwag on the stomach. Shows a little bit of skin but not too much. It’s your prerogative.”

Designing the clothes
As a woman who experiences weight changes, Dimples remains overflowing with confidence. Her strong mind pushes to uplift everyone, especially women, to go easier on themselves.
She lightheartedly shared, “Happy naman ako sa tiyanena ko pero ‘pag bumabakat kasi, nalalaman kung gaano katagal kang tumambay sa buffet at okay lang din naman ‘yon sa akin pero as much as possible, huwag na lang sanang malaman ng mga kaibigan ko na mga three hours ako sa buffet nila!
“Ako rin. Minsan malaki ako, minsan payat, minsan mataba ako. I don’t really mind. Feeling ko, pretty ako kahit na malaki–maliit ako. Sa totoo lang, I have become very forgiving of my body kasi feeling ko… tatlo yung anak ko, at some point talaga, kakain ka, e, lalo ‘pag holiday.”
With that positive outlook, Dimples conveys this piece of her mind through her products. She envisions beautifying women with style, all body shapes and figures included.
So, the actress makes sure that her designs are intentional. She makes movement a signature of her work.
She explains, “Ako kasi, mahilig ako sa movement, as you know.
“Yung dating, pagka yung babae nakikita mo, ‘pag hinanginan siya, yung damit niya humahangin, iba… Parang nagke-create siya ng different silhouette. Nakaka-pretty siya talaga.
“Like even for Daniela Mondragon, we wanted to wear something that was moving kasi para sa akin, yung babae, nakikita mo yung ganda niya kapag yung damit niya gumagalaw kasabay ng galaw niya.
Daniela Mondragon was the Dimples’ breakthrough kontrabida role Dimples in the 2018 drama series “Kadenang Ginto.” She often power-dresses with red being a prominent color for the character.
Highlighting again the intentions of her work, Dimples exudes passion as she goes into the specifics of her collection.
She said, “Kumbaga, parang mas maganda siya in the sense na maraming beses mo siyang magagamit and then the colors are also not all loud colors.
“We have red, we have mustard, we have green, we have apple green, but we also have muted colors like pale yellow, beige cream, black, red—of course, hindi mawawala—and white.
“We even have sequined ones like yung mga tops namin. You can put a blazer on top. If naiinitan ka na, you can take it away, pwede mo rin siya gamitin for the summer.
“So, very intentional sa akin. The whole collection would cater to different kinds of body types kasi our sizes are from size 1 until 4X, so pwedeng pang-plus size. They can order online.”

Aside from Get Spotted, Dimples is also busy with her skincare business called Dreamcake.
Dimples is also set to return to acting as she joins the cast of “High Street,” the sequel of ABS-CBN’s teen drama series “Senior High.”
