PH Fashion Successfully Lands In South Korea

The Manila Fashion Festival goes global!

PH MODE x SEL by Manila Fashion Festival (MFF) successfully launched its first show at the Asia Open Collection. The latter was part of the 2022 Asia Model Festival (AMF) in Uijeongbu City, South Korea, last October 2022.

The AMF is Asia’s biggest event for fashion models sponsored by Uijeongbu-si in South Korea. Representatives from 25 Asian countries participated in it. It had three parts: the Asia Model Awards, the Asia Open Collection, and the Face of Asia. Those in attendance included Korea’s top fashion designer Lie Sang Bong; Italia’s AT.P. CO; Mongolian Sonn Up; Tajikistan’s Umed Kuchikaliev; and our very own PH MODE x SEL.

Where it all began

Before making waves overseas, Philippine fashion has always been well-celebrated in the country through the Manila Fashion Festival (MFF). Originally planned as a runway event to help produce fashion shows for designers, MFF became a bi-annual event. It had over 150 designers/brands’ shows with eight major fashion media partners in the Philippines.

With the appointment of a foreign organizer, Genshi Shigekawa, the team behind MFF transformed the event into a massive industry platform. Their goal was to see the MFF lead the Philippine fashion community.

Currently, the MFF is the largest fashion runway event in the Philippines. It continues to achieve its goal of promoting Philippine fashion, artistry, and talent by reaching out to the international market.

PH fashion goes global

After highlighting Philippine fashion via high-standard products, PH MODE x SEL by MFF collaborated with IGS.F, a leading graphene textile company in Korea.

PH MODE was launched as a representation of today’s Philippine fashion masterpieces. MFF took a step further in building international markets and providing business launching opportunities for this emerging market by joining another international collaboration.

In September, MFF joined Rakuten Fashion Week as “PH MODE x TYO by MFF,” followed by two trade exhibits. For PH MODE x TYO, they collaborated with STYLEM, Japan‘s leading fabric trading company. It also provides high-quality fabric to premium designers and multinational brands worldwide.

On the other hand, PH MODE x SEL by MFF used GRAPHENETEX produced by IGS.F. The Philippines’ senior and contemporary designers used this as the base fabric of their collections. They also combined it with indigenous materials sourced from the Philippines.

MFF Season 15 goes back to Manila

After launching a successful Philippine fashion collection in Tokyo and Seoul, MFF will be back in Manila for its 15th season this February 2023. MFF will again showcase the PH MODE x SEL by MFF and the PH MODE x TYO by MFF collections. They’ll also invite esteemed fashion designers from Tokyo, Taipei, and Seoul.
