Alden on his relationship with Kathryn: “I really want it to be personal”
Alden Richards says he is keeping the details of his relationship with Kapamilya A-list actress Kathryn Bernardo away from public discourse.
Rumors of their alleged romance started making waves when the 32-year-old Sparkle artist was constantly spotted with Kathryn in recent months—following the latter’s breakup with ex-boyfriend Daniel Padilla.
While many netizens speculate that the two might have been in a romantic relationship, some still believe that it is only a promotional strategy for a rumored comeback film.
Speaking up on the issue, Alden states in an interview with Preview.ph that he puts some serious reservations on the things between him and Kathryn.
As he puts it, “Whatever is happening between Kath and I, I really want it to be personal.”
He also adds,“Hindi lang din talaga kailangan lagi ipamalita sa social media yung mga ganyan. You know, sometimes, yung mga personal things that’s happening, better be personal na lang.”

Alden first piqued the attention of netizens when he attended Kathryn’s birthday party in El Nido, Palawan. In the presence of other celebrities, the actor serenaded Kathryn with his own rendition of “Bakit Ngayon Ka Lang,” with “Hello, Love, Goodbye” co-star Kakai Bautista.

Alden also surprised Kathryn during his post-birthday celebration organized by close friends, Boop Yap and Kim Yap. The actor visited the event with a bouquet of lush roses and a gift from French luxury brand Baccarat.
In a separate interview with GMA-7’s Nelson Canlas, he says that he had fun at the event—and he can see how happy Kathryn was during the celebration. When asked about their real score, Alden simply puts it as: “What you see is what you get.”
In April, Alden attended Kathryn’s housewarming event—as seen in a series of Instagram stories uploaded by fashion stylist Priscilla Tañedo.
Alden Richards on being friends with Kathryn Bernardo
Alden and Kathryn have built a cordial friendship with each other after headlining the 2019 blockbuster film “Hello, Love, Goodbye.” More interestingly, the two seemed to have maintained a good relationship years after the film.
Alden says, “The friendship never ended. Naging solid din talaga yung samahan namin lahat [when we were filming.] And right now, I’m just quite overwhelmed.”
Just as much, Alden has expressed his gratitude to the fans’ positive reception, which earned them a good traction for their on-screen pairing KathDen.
He says, “I was actually surprised [with] how people reacted to [us]. I don’t want to be the first person to say a lot of things about it, but I’m glad that it’s being received well.”
