“Rewind” puts marital struggles at the center of its narrative
Reel-and-real-life couple Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera inspect the struggles of married life in the first look of their 2023 Metro Manila Film Festival entry, “Rewind.”
The teaser released on Monday, November 13, takes a closer look at a typical family embattled by the struggles of being married—one of which revolves around Dingdong’s character and his indifference towards Marian’s character and their kid.

It starts with an elated Marian who asks a drunk Dingdong to have a family photo for Christmas. However, Dingdong was seen impatient about it, setting the mood for the entire plot to unfold.
The succeeding shots then focused on Dingdong’s series of frustration and anger, all of which are defended by Marian who appears as a doting housewife to Dingdong.
In a seeming confrontation of their challenge, their kid is seen praying and asking, “Do you think Mom and Dad are still happy? I don’t want to see my mom sad every day.”
The clip then wraps up in a car crash scene wherein it leads to all flashbacks and memories that Dingdong and Marian had made in the entirety of their marriage life.
Ben & Ben’s hit “Sa Susunod Na Habang Buhay” is played as the official soundtrack of the film.
“Rewind” is helmed by Director Mae Cruz-Alviar and is one of the official entries to this year’s 2023 Metro Manila Film Festival.
Dubbed as the “most anticipated comeback and collaboration of the year,” the film is produced by Star Cinema, Tony Tuviera’s APT Entertainment, and Dingdong Dantes’s Agosto Dos Media.
“Rewind” is Marian and Dingdong’s big screen comeback for the first time in 13 years. Their last film was “You To Me Are Everything,” which was released in 2010.

However, they manage to do so with the help of their close relatives who take their children in whenever taping calls.
“Mahirap, mahirap. So, thankful kami sa aming mga nanay. My mother-in-law ‘tapos my mother also, my sister helps out. So, ‘pag wala kami, sila yung nag-aalaga sa kanila.“
Dingdong even said during the event that they were already wrapping up the film, that’s why “we’ll have more time for them.”
