He emphasized that acting for television taught a range of lessons to him
Elijah Canlas admitted that he almost quit acting on television because of some challenging experiences while he was still starting.
Elijah shared this during the Q&A at the finale media conference for “Senior High” on January 10, held at Dolphy Theater.
Looking back at his early days of doing TV work, Elijah said, “I remember lang noong mga first TV experience ko, it was honestly not fun. It made me want to quit acting. Medyo iniwasan ko po talaga ‘yung TV for the longest time.”
However, his perspective changed when he was offered to do “Senior High,” which just aired its finale on January 19.
He continued, “Pero dahil nga po sa group of people na ‘to, um-oo ako noong nag-pitch po and everything.
“It was something that’s exciting for me and something that I thought was fresh for TV, kaya payag ako. Ang saya ng world building dito sa ‘Senior High,’ ‘yung character building.”

Despite the challenges, Elijah acknowledged the valuable lessons that television projects provide in terms of discipline in acting.
Of this, Elijah is excited and open to doing more TV shows in the future.
He explained, “Yung TV, iba po talaga siya. It’s like an exercise on discipline, on urgency, kung gaano ka kabilis mag-internalize or whatever, kung gaano ka kabilis mag-memorize. Ang daming learnings and I don’t mind doing it again.”
Elijah Canlas is known for his outstanding performances in several movie projects. His first project was the Cinemalaya entry “Sundalong Kanin” shown in 2015.
However, it was his performance in “Kalel, 15,” that rose him to fame, as it also earned him multiple acting awards.
In 2020, during the pandemic, Elijah broke into the masses via the digital BL series “Gameboys” with Kokoy de Santos. It was also this year when he first dabbled into TV work via the TV5 series “Paano Ang Pasko?”
“Senior High” is Elijah’s first TV show on ABS-CBN, where his team-up with Xyriel Manabat earned a following. After the show’s success, Elijah and Xyriel are rumored to become part of a movie.
