Variety refuted Gal Gadot’s claims of a third “Wonder Woman” film being in production
The recent conflicting statements from Gal Gadot and James Gunn surrounding “Wonder Woman 3” have left DC fans puzzled and questioning the franchise’s direction.
On December 7, 2022, Gal expressed her excitement about reprising her role as the iconic superhero, only to learn that DC decided not to proceed with the franchise shortly after.
The news came as James Gunn and Peter Safran took charge of the DC Extended Universe (DCEU), with The Hollywood Reporter suggesting that the film’s treatment did not align with the studio’s plans. Gal said she felt “empowered” by the decision.
But, in an interview with ComicBook.com, she later conveyed that James and Peter had informed her they would collaborate on developing “Wonder Woman 3” together.
In an exclusive interview with Flaunt magazine, while promoting her new Netflix film “Heart of Stone,” Gal reiterated her involvement in the project, stating, “I was invited to a meeting with James Gunn and Peter Safran, and what they told me, and I’m quoting: ‘You’re in the best hands. We’re going to develop Wonder Woman 3 with you. We love you as Wonder Woman – you’ve got nothing to worry about.’ So time will tell.”
Despite these statements, Variety has reported that there are no concrete plans for a new Wonder Woman film, and no definitive discussions with Gal took place about her return as the character. This conflicting information left fans raising questions about the honesty of Gal, as well as James and Peter.
Gal debuted as Wonder Woman in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” (2016), followed by her standalone film a year later. She returned for the sequel, “Wonder Woman 1984,” in 2020 and more recently appeared in “The Flash.”
