Check out their refreshing version of a new-wave classic.
I Belong To The Zoo is a solo project by Tonight We Sleep frontman Argee Guerrero.
It’s known for songs that hit home hard. That’s the reason its songs have become anthems for the brokenhearted. As far as artistry and lyricism are concerned, it focuses on unrequited love, with singles like “Balang Araw” and “Sana.”
The English new wave band Breathe originally performed “Hands To Heaven” in the 1980s. It was their breakthrough hit internationally. “Hands to Heaven” single peaked at No. 4 on the UK Singles Chart in August 1988. That same month, it logged two weeks at the summit of the US Billboard Hot 100. “Hands to Heaven” also became a Top 10 hit in Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, and Norway.
Meanwhile, “Hands to Heaven” was popularized in the Philippines in 2004 by Christian Bautista.
I Belong To The Zoo’s rendition jumps boundaries with its refreshing alternative rock vibe. This new version of the song features beefy electric guitar tones and clear vocals. It also has dramatic riffs made using keyboards.
Leading up to the release of the song, the band shared cryptic teasers on social media with the hashtag #XBXX. The new rendition also has a live performance video. You can check it out below:
I Belong To The Zoo’s version of “Hands to Heaven” is under Universal Records. It’s also available for streaming via Spotify.
