Here’s what to know about “Under Parallel Skies”
As Janella mentioned, the film will be helmed by the award-winning director Sigrid Andrea Bernardo. Sigrid is known for her romantic-comedy hit “Kita Kita,” which stars Alessandra de Rossi and Empoy Marquez.
Shot in Hong Kong, “Under Parallel Skies” is set to take its viewers closer to a meaningful examination of humans’ interweaving lives, as a man, burdened with distant ghosts, discovers a woman’s link to his painful past.
Direk Sigrid shares with ABS-CBN News that casting two different nationalities is no less than essential in bringing forth a richer narration of the story.
“With this cross-county collaboration, the actors can bring their own unique skill sets and experiences, which can help enrich the story and give more authenticity to the characters they play,” she says.
“I am to create a film that celebrates the unique identities and traditions of each culture while also exploring common themes and experiences that unite us as human beings,” she adds.
The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) has also offered all-out support for the production, as it aims to promote the land’s unique culture and landscape through various collaborations with popular TV stations, be it on a regional or international scale.
Win Metawin has risen to popularity through Thailand’s 2020 hit series “2gether: The Series,” a Boys’ Love project with another Thai actor Vachirawit Chivaaree. Win also bannered Thailand’s adaptation of Japan’s “Boys Over Flowers” among other projects, such as “Devil Sister” and “Good Old Days.”
Janella, on the other hand, has jump-started her acting career with ABS-CBN’s daytime series
“Be Careful With My Heart” in 2012. Some of her more notable appearances include “The Killer Bride” in 2019 and the very recent “Darna” in 2022.
