“Nasabihan na ako na hanggang ganun lang yung pwede kong gawing role dahil sa hitsura ko”
Janine Gutierrez has truly enjoyed doing “Dirty Linen,” her second primetime series as a Kapamilya.
In fact, she now considers her role as Alexa/Mila as her “favorite” to date.
She declares, “Ito na siguro yung favorite ko na role kasi gustung-gusto ko kapag yung character, hindi lang basta mabait or ang daming layers ng bawat character.”
Janine also recalls how in the past, she was told that she cannot play such a character and tried to lock her in just a single type of role because of how she looked.
She explains, “Sobrang thankful ako na napagkatiwalaan ako to play Alexa kasi dati, nasabihan na ako na, ‘Ah, hindi ka pwede masyado mag-play ng ganyang role kasi masyadong kang mestiza,’ ganyan, or nasabihan na ako na hanggang ganun lang yung pwede kong gawing role dahil sa hitsura ko.“
That’s why she is grateful to ABS-CBN and the producer of “Dirty Linen,” Dreamscape Entertainment and its head Deo Endrinal, for giving her the Alexa role.
“So, sobrang thankful ko talaga sa Dreamscape and Sir Deo Endrinal and sa mga directors namin dahil talagang nabigyan ako ng pagkakataon na magawa yung ganitong klase na ganito talaga yung gusto ko.
“Lumalaban, hindi one sided. Yung hindi mo alam if maiinis ka sa kanya o kakampihan mo siya o maasar ka.
“So, yes, I’m so grateful talaga and happy to have been able to play Alexa.”
Janine started her showbiz career in 2011 as a talent of GMA-7. After ten years, however, she decided to transfer to ABS-CBN in 2021 amid the pandemic and the shutdown.
Janine is the first artist to make a transfer to the Kapamilya network during the shutdown. Her first series with ABS-CBN was the primetime series “Marry Me, Marry You.”
