Filipino-American actor and comedian Jo Koy will take the stage as the host of the 81st Annual Golden Globe Awards in 2024.
Jo Koy and the organizers announced the news on December 21, 2023.
Jo Koy is best known for his popular stand-up specials and the milestone achievement of “Easter Sunday,” the first major studio film with an all-Filipino cast.

This opportunity marks Jo Koy’s debut as a major award show host. He shared that he is excited about his recently announced Golden Globes role.
He said, “I’ve stepped onto a lot of stages around the world in my career, but this one is going to be extra special. This is that moment where I get to make my Filipino family proud.”
The Golden Globes, undergoing a revamp after recent challenges it encountered, found a new home on CBS after NBC ended its long-standing broadcasting deal. CBS aims to boost the show’s ratings, especially after the 2023 Globes experienced a significant drop with just 6.3 million viewers.

The Golden Globes president Helen Hoehne expressed the organization’s excitement about having Jo Koy as the host.
She said, “We are thrilled to have Jo host the 81st Annual Golden Globe Awards and bring his infectious energy and relatable humor to kick off Hollywood’s award season. We know Jo is bringing his A-game.”
The 81st Golden Globes ceremony is set to take place in Beverly Hills on January 7, 2024.
