Jo Koy will be the first Filipino in history to host the renowned awards show.
Jo Koy and the organizers announced the news on December 21, 2023.
Jo Koy is best known for his popular stand-up specials and the milestone achievement of “Easter Sunday,” the first major studio film with an all-Filipino cast.
This opportunity marks Jo Koy’s debut as a major award show host. He shared that he is excited about his recently announced Golden Globes role.
He said, “I’ve stepped onto a lot of stages around the world in my career, but this one is going to be extra special. This is that moment where I get to make my Filipino family proud.”
The Golden Globes, undergoing a revamp after recent challenges it encountered, found a new home on CBS after NBC ended its long-standing broadcasting deal. CBS aims to boost the show’s ratings, especially after the 2023 Globes experienced a significant drop with just 6.3 million viewers.
