Dreamscape Entertainment is set to bring the kilig with its latest offering!
Take the breakout love team of 2022, add a kidnapping gone wrong, and what do you get? This year’s most highly-anticipated digital series featuring KD Estrada and Alexa Ilacad.
Run to Me is a feel-good show from the ABS-CBN TV production unit Dreamscape Entertainment. It revolves around the not-so-perfect lives of Jewel and Wilson. Jewel, played by Ilacad, is a superstar in the streaming world. She’s best known for her ability to sing like an angel while putting on makeup.
Despite her fame, Jewel is a “poor little rich girl.” She feels neglected by her mother Emerald (Mickey Ferriols). Emerald is a career woman who dotes on her younger son Diamond (Sean Tristan) when she’s not at the office.
Meanwhile, Wilson (Estrada) is a streamer like Jewel. But unlike her, he’s struggling to build a following. Also, he can lean on his mother Mami Bebot (Nikki Valdez) for moral support. They’re super close. Sadly, she has leukemia and Wilson works many jobs to pay for her treatment.
One night, Jewel and Wilson cross paths when he rescues her from kidnappers. He gets the shock of his life when he learns she staged the kidnapping to get her mother’s attention. Upset that he ruined her plan, Jewel convinces Wilson to make it up to her by going along with it. He takes her to his hometown, where she meets his family and friends. Soon she falls in love with him, and he with her.
But the question remains: Will Jewel and Wilson’s love story have a happy ending? Find out when the show premieres later today!
Alexa Ilacad opens up
At the show’s press preview on May 15, Ilacad gamely shared her thoughts with reporters. When asked if she’s ready for stardom, she responded in the affirmative.
“Yes. Sa tingin ko naman we have what it takes. We continue to hone our skills, hone our craft, so why not?” she says.
Despite that answer, Ilacad admits she doesn’t always feel confident. In fact, before she arrived at Cinema 1 of the Santolan Town Plaza for the press preview, she was nervous.
“To be honest, merong kaba, especially before we watched this. We care about this show. Personally, I want to make people proud. I want to make sure na ‘yung sinasabi kong matagal kong hinintay is worth the wait.”
That’s why Ilacad gave it her all during their lock-in taping. She says everyone on the Run to Me team did the same.
“Yung bawat eksena, yung cinematography, yung script, pinagpaguran talaga ng lahat. Everyone, yung mga artistaat staff, worked so, so hard for this para maipagmalaki namin siya.”
KD Estrada sounds off
When asked to comment on the success of the KDLex tandem, Estrada says it still feels surreal.
“Kasi naaalala ko dati, when I was young, parang nakikita ko lang sa TV yung mga nakakasama ko ngayon. I never thought magiging artista ako. When I saw myself onscreen with Alexa, napaisip ako bigla na, ‘Wow, I made it this far.'”
Estrada remains tight-lipped on the status of his relationship with Ilacad. But his actions speak louder than words. Sources say he took great care of her on the Run to Me set.
“We see each other as partner material talaga for long term. But right now, we don’t want to put a label on things. I don’t know what’ll happen in the future. None of us know. But yes, Alexa is girlfriend material. Gusto ko lang sabihin na whatever happens, she’s a very important part of my journey,” he says.
Run to Me is from ABS-CBN, Dreamscape Entertainment, iWantTFC, and Kumu. Aside from KD Estrada and his lady love, it also stars CJ Navato, Henz Villaraiz, Malou Crisologo, Matty Juniosa, and more.
The pilot will premiere on Kumu later today and on iWantTFC on May 21 at 8:00 PM. New episodes will drop every Saturday.
